PURPOSE The principal holds a vital role in leading and guiding educators and all staff under him/her by providing strong leadership and a clear vision to the entire school community. They are tasked with creating a safe, supportive, and peaceful environment that promotes excellence in teaching and learning. The principal manages the daily operations of the school and ensures that all activities are effectively carried out. This position is fully responsible for decision-making and is accountable for the management for driving student success, strengthening instructional practices, and maintaining a positive, productive work environment for all staff. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provide leadership to improve academic excellence and students’ achievements by developing the academic and support staff. 2. Direct the support staff by empowering them to perform their duties and responsibilities to achieve set targets in the academic year. 3. Ensure the safety of all students, staff members and all the visitors of the school. 4. Make a collaborative effort to protect the school premises and properties which belong to the school. 5. Orient new staff members (academic / support) to the school & relevant departments. 6. Monitor and assess the performance of all staff members (academic / support) with clear overall objectivity. 7. Direct relevant staff in recovering school fees arrears on time. Strictly ensure that you and your staff strictly adhere to RI Policies and procedures without any deviation. TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES 01. Handling admissions 1. Act at the first contact person to meet and discuss with parents for all new admissions in school Provide necessary information to the parents to determine the suitable curriculum for their students proving the academic and sports achievements obtained by our own students in the school. 2. Recommend the placement test papers and conducting interviews to grant the admission approval based on the test results. 3. Ensure arrangements are made to provide the lesson plan of the previous term lesson along with the book list when they enroll in the 2nd or 3rd term. 4.Ensure that the admissions process is done promptly with minimal waste of parents/students’ time, information is given promptly, and the follow up is done by the office staff promptly and effectively in liaison with the admission manager. 02. Leadership and Management 1. Implement all scheduled events in each term according to the common year plan and branch school calendar with the participation of students, academic staff and support staff. 2. Supervise the attendance and absenteeism of the academic and support staff. 3. Take necessary actions to minimize poor attendance, late coming and absenteeism. 4. Utilize to the fullest possible extent all available facilities, materials, equipment and human resources. 5. Ensure Development and administration of the general school routine and coordinate all activities within the school to achieve the overall results. 6. Fulfill vacancies of the academic and support staff in liaison with the HR Department before the commencement of term. 7. Maintain effective communication to keep the staff, students and parents properly informed of any new information and/or changes. 8. Recommend and implement changes which will lead to improving the administration, supervision and opportunity for student development. 9. Ensure all activities (both day and night) are smoothly taking place in the school through the prompt monitoring and evaluation mechanism. 03. Teaching and Learning 1. Support the training and development of especially teaching staff to improve the quality of teaching. 2. Maintain the class and personal timetables including the recommended number of periods by the management. 3. Proper supervision of daily relief assignments ensuring the proper teaching and learning process in the absence of a subject teacher/ class teacher. 4. Observe lessons of teachers randomly and regularly and ensure teacher evaluations are conducted. 5. Conduct midterm tests, term tests adhering to the given time periods in the three terms. 6. Ensure that all term test papers are set according to the given structure. 7. Ensure that all test papers from the branch are finally checked by you before being released. 8. Conduct parent – teacher meetings and make arrangements to call parents to improve the standard of the students when necessary. 9. Identify weaker students and students who need more attention with the support of subject teachers and sectional heads and schedule remedial classes for term. 10. Ensure that teachers schedule extra classes during all three vacations to cover important areas in the subjects and to revise the knowledge of students and ensure that these classes are conducted effectively. Keep an accurate record of teachers conducting classes. 11. Analyze overall results according to the grades obtained. 12. Conduct interviews to guide students on subject combinations for O/L and A/L classes. 13. Ensure that all students achieve their academic targets. Attend professional conferences, seminars and workshops in paper setting, education and educational administration. 04 Discipline and student behavior 1. Maintain a standard of student behavior to minimize school and classroom interruptions. 2. Resolve student behavioral problems, if necessary, with the involvement of parents. 3. Take necessary actions against behavioral issues, consulting the co-coordinating principal and the management. 4. Maintain a school environment which discourages disputes among students. 5. Conduct a close relationship with students who engage in behavioral issues and give instructions continuously until progress is made. Refer needy students to the school counsellor. 05 Maintaining documents and records 1. Maintain attendance registers for academic staff, support staff and students. 2. Maintain and check teacher record books. Maintaining mark books including marks of midterm and term test. 3. Check the accuracy of winners list prepared for annual award ceremonies. 4. Ensure through effective monitoring the proper usage and handling of all documents related to the staff, school properties (photocopy & printing machine/ Generator / electricity and water bills / school buses) 5. Handle CVs and call qualified experienced applicants for interviews and direct them to the second interviews after observing their demonstration lessons. 6. Ensure that booklists are confirmed by all teachers when instructed by the Coordinating Principal and Head of Academic Affairs and are distributed to students before the end of term. 7. Keep all records relevant to the lesson plans and schemes of work in National & Cambridge Curriculum. 8. Ensure that teachers have copies of the lesson plans and schemes of work before commencement of term, they are prepared for the first week of term well in advance, and the lesson plans are shared with students on the first day of term. Keep records of the number of students in each class. 06 Organize and handle annual functions and events 1. Organize all annual events such as New Year celebrations, religious functions, Sports meet, English day & Staff trips well in advance according to your branch school calendar. Trips should be avoided just before tests/exams. 2. Check all duty rosters, assigned to the teachers, for all events and conduct meetings to explain about their duties and responsibilities. 3. Conduct two or three rehearsals sessions before each function Ensure that branch participates in all functions in the best quality possible 07 School properties and maintenance 1. Make arrangements to provide the necessary books, instruments, tools, devices and equipment for the library, Chemistry and Physics labs & computer labs. 2. Ensure that all school properties and equipment are well maintained by the relevant staff. 3. Make arrangements to obtain the required number of chairs, tables & cupboards at the end of the term, before the next term begins. 4. Ensure that class teachers are held responsible for maintaining the school properties and equipment. Students are to pay for the property they purposely destroy. Ensure the proper condition of all school buildings by painting & repairing is done before the commencement of every academic year.
