School Psychologist (Parental Leave Cover)

About the Role

We are seeking a registered School Psychologist to join our Care and Development Team in a fixed-term parental leave position (from 18 January 2027 – December 2027). Reporting to the Assistant Principal, Care and Development, this role plays a vital part in supporting the wellbeing, resilience and personal growth of our students.

Working closely with students, whānau, staff and external agencies, you will provide professional psychological services, including assessment, brief therapeutic interventions, consultation, and wellbeing guidance. You will contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every student can thrive and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide confidential psychological assessment and support services for students experiencing mild to moderate mental health and wellbeing concerns.
• Work collaboratively with deans, nurses, boarding staff, learning support staff and senior leaders to support student wellbeing outcomes.
• Deliver professional guidance and wellbeing advice to staff and contribute to professional learning initiatives.
• Liaise with parents, whānau and external agencies to coordinate appropriate support and referral pathways.
• Participate in crisis response planning and contribute to the school's wider wellbeing and care initiatives.

We’re looking for someone who is

• A registered psychologist with a current practising certificate and eligibility to work within New Zealand.
• Experienced in working with adolescents and supporting mental health and wellbeing in an educational setting.
• Skilled in building positive relationships with students, families, staff and external agencies.
• An excellent communicator with strong professional judgement, discretion and integrity.
• Committed to fostering an inclusive, student-centred environment aligned with the values of Rangi Ruru Girls’ School.
