We are a busy, happy household centered around a working solo mom and her bright, curious two-year-old daughter. I am an entrepreneur building my business and working from home during the day, while my daughter attends daycare during the week. There is plenty of dancing and singing in the kitchen. Structure is what helps keep our home joyful and gives us more room for the moments that matter.

Our home is already well maintained, with bi-weekly cleaning support and thoughtful systems for meals, organization, routines, and day-to-day logistics. I care deeply about consistency, efficiency, and attention to detail. This is not for the sake of perfection, but because a smoothly running home allows me to stay focused on work and be fully present with my daughter when we are together.

As my business grows, I am looking for a dependable, self-directed professional who can learn our household systems, carry them forward with care, and take meaningful ownership of daily responsibilities. The right person will appreciate clear structure and high standards while bringing sound judgment, initiative, and a calm, solutions-oriented approach.

This is a collaborative role built on trust and respectful communication. We will align on the most important priorities, and you will have the space to own your plan, work independently, and keep me informed about what was completed and what comes next. Over time, I hope you will become a trusted, long-term presence who helps our home run smoothly and whose contribution is genuinely valued.

You are someone who takes genuine pride in helping a home feel calm, organized, and cared for. You bring warmth, sound judgment, and consistent follow-through to work that often happens behind the scenes.

  • Naturally tidy and organized: Order is your default, not an effort. You notice what is out of place and enjoy completing the details—from resetting the kitchen to putting folded laundry all the way into the drawer.
  • Systems-minded and proactive: You enjoy following established checklists and household systems, while also noticing gaps, anticipating needs, and flagging what could work better.
  • Independent and dependable: You show up, follow through, and stay consistent. You can confidently own your shift, adjust to the household's priorities, and complete work thoroughly without ongoing oversight.
  • Digitally comfortable: You are at ease using shared task-management tools, grocery apps, Google Calendar, and similar technology to stay organized and keep the household informed.
  • Discreet and professional: You understand how to work thoughtfully in a home-office environment, maintaining privacy and minimizing disruptions while the employer works from home and participates in client calls.
  • An async-first communicator: You provide clear, concise updates through the family's shared app and reserve text messages for truly urgent matters. You communicate what was completed, what you noticed, and what needs attention next.
  • Warm and genuinely at ease with toddlers: You enjoy being around young children and interact with patience, warmth, and care—not simply tolerance—even though childcare is not the primary focus of the role.
  • Invested in the long term: You appreciate the flexibility of a part-time role while recognizing that it is essential to the family. You are interested in becoming a trusted, reliable presence and growing with the household as its needs evolve.

Each week, we will align on the household's top priorities. You will own the plan for each shift and leave a brief update sharing what was completed and what comes next.

You will be set up for success with:

  • A fully documented Household Playbook, so expectations and systems are clear without repeated explanations
  • A structured four-week onboarding process with clear milestones
  • Meaningful autonomy and ownership once you are up to speed, with minimal day-to-day management
  • Direct, respectful communication and a clearly defined scope that will not expand without a conversation
  • Genuine appreciation and gratitude for the care, consistency, and support you bring to our home

Responsibilities

~1 min read

The primary focus of this role is to reduce the day-to-day household mental load by taking consistent ownership of the family’s highest-priority routines. Core responsibilities should be completed before moving on to secondary household projects as time allows.

  • Prepare and pack simple toddler meals and daycare food using ingredients and meal plans provided by the family
  • Support light family meal preparation, such as washing and cutting produce, boiling pasta, preparing simple components, or making an easy meal
  • Maintain an organized system for toddler feeding supplies, including containers, lunchbox items, bibs, and related items
  • Reset the kitchen following meal preparation, including loading/unloading the dishwasher, hand-washing items as needed, wiping counters and the sink, and restoring the workspace

Maintain a visually tidy, organized, and functional home by completing regular resets throughout the week. The goal is not deep cleaning, but maintaining the organization and systems already established in the home.

Key areas include:

  • Kitchen: reset surfaces, manage dishes, wipe counters and sink, clear clutter, and sweep or vacuum as needed
  • Entryway: put away shoes and belongings, hang coats, bags, and carriers, and reset the household drop zone
  • Living & dining areas: clear surfaces, wipe the dining table, reset the high chair, organize blankets, and tidy work and living spaces
  • Toddler areas: return toys, books, and belongings to designated spaces and remove floor hazards
  • Bathrooms: wipe the vanity and faucet, reset counters and storage areas, and return stray items to their proper place
  • Bedrooms & closets: clear floors, place clothing in hampers, and put away clean clothing as available

Take ownership of moving household laundry through to completion.

  • Pick up the laundry process wherever it has been left and continue loads through washing, drying, folding, and putting away
  • Fold and put away household clothing and linens
  • Keep the laundry area organized and supplies appropriately stocked
  • Change bed linens on the established schedule
  • Refresh bathroom and kitchen towels regularly

Help prevent household needs from becoming last-minute tasks by maintaining awareness of commonly used supplies and upcoming needs.

  • Monitor household essentials, including bathroom, laundry, cleaning, kitchen, and toddler supplies
  • Maintain a running list of items that need to be replenished and flag them before they become urgent
  • Maintain existing household organization systems and return items to their designated places
  • Stay aware of upcoming daycare needs, toddler clothing or supply needs, and relevant schedule changes
  • Water and care for indoor plants as part of the regular household routine

Once the core weekly priorities are complete, remaining hours may be used for rotating household upkeep, errands, and special projects.

These responsibilities may include:

  • Vacuuming additional areas of the home as needed
  • Completing quarterly vacuuming and swapping out new filters
  • Refilling soap dispensers and other household supplies
  • Breaking down boxes and recycling
  • Collecting package deliveries from the apartment complex mail/package room
  • Help coordinate maintenance requests to the apartment building as needed
  • Occasional daycare pickup using the family vehicle
  • Supporting packing and unpacking for family travel around holidays, long weekends, or vacations

These secondary responsibilities are intended to rotate based on household needs and available time rather than serve as required tasks during every shift.

Please ensure to include the following when applying:

  • A brief letter explaining why you’d be a great fit for this role
  • Your updated resume
  • At least 3 professional references with contact information
