Role Summary
The Advanced Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, administration, automation, and operational stability of enterprise infrastructure platforms across on‑prem and cloud environments. This role owns critical systems, leads complex troubleshooting efforts, and drives reliability, security, and performance improvements in collaboration with SRE, Cloud, Security, and Application and Network teams.
It is production‑first, execution‑heavy, and operationally accountable.
Job Duties
Infrastructure & Platform Ownership
- Own and administer enterprise systems including Linux/Windows servers, virtualization, storage, and backup platforms
- Ensure high availability, performance, and capacity planning for mission‑critical systems
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for Sev‑1 / Sev‑2 incidents and drive long‑term fixes
Cloud & Automation
- Manage and support cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS/GCP) using IaC (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation)
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell Terraform) for provisioning and operations
- Improve system reliability through monitoring, alerting, and self‑healing mechanisms
Security & Compliance
- Implement OS hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation
- Support certificate, secrets, and identity management
- Ensure compliance with internal security and audit standards
Operational Excellence
- Create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and operational documentation
- Mentor junior administrators and influence best practices across teams
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with SRE, DevOps, Network, Security, and Application teams
- Support production releases, change management, and maintenance activities
YOU MUST HAVE:
- 8+ years of experience in systems administration / infrastructure operations
- Strong expertise in VMware , Linux and/or Windows Server environments
- Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP)
- Proficiency in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Terraform)
- Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, compute, storage, and networking layers
- Experience supporting 24x7 production environments
We Value
- Experience with Kubernetes / container platforms
- Knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, Splunk)
- Exposure to SRE practices (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets)
- Relevant certifications (Azure, AWS, Red Hat, VMware)
