Security Officer - Canaan, NY

We are currently hiring for a Security Officer position at an educational campus. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment during overnight hours through patrols, monitoring, and emergency response. Available Positions Sunday through Thursday from 2300-0700 (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM), totaling 40 hours per week at a pay rate of $20.00 an hour. ________________________________________ What You'll Do • Conduct regular patrols of dormitory buildings to ensure quiet hours are being observed. • Patrol the main school building to ensure all areas are secure and unoccupied after hours. • Check doors and access points to verify buildings remain properly secured. • Respond to fire alarms and assist with building evacuations when necessary. • Maintain a visible security presence throughout the property. • Position vehicle strategically to monitor dormitory and school building activity. • Observe and report suspicious, unsafe, or unusual activity. • Complete accurate daily activity logs and incident reports. • Communicate effectively with site staff and emergency responders as needed. ________________________________________ What We're Looking For • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required. • Strong communication and customer service skills. • Ability to work independently and remain alert during overnight hours. • Dependable, punctual, and professional. • Strong observation skills and attention to detail. • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during emergencies. • Comfortable performing regular vehicle and foot patrols. • Valid driver's license and a personal vehicle. • Previous security experience is a plus but not required. ________________________________________ Why Apply? • Consistent overnight schedule. • Weekly pay and competitive benefits for eligible employees. • Hands-on support and guidance throughout the NYS security licensing process. • Opportunities for advancement, with many leadership positions filled internally. • Stable work environment with long-term growth potential. ________________________________________ We are seeking reliable, professional, and attentive individuals who can work independently while maintaining a visible security presence throughout the campus during overnight hours.
