• Must be willing and able to travel throughout Newport, Norfolk, and surrounding areas to support staffing needs across multiple Sentara Medical Group practice locations and affiliated hospital settings.

The Certified Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

• Less than a year of related experience is required

• Phlebotomy experience is preferred

• High School Graduate or Equivalent is required

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire

• Current, unexpired Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA, CMAC, or equivalent) or EMT-Basic certification from an accredited organization
