Kirby is seeking a safety-focused, dependable Yard Utility employee for the Brazos River Fueling Facility in Freeport, Texas. This position safely transfers fuel and lubricating oil to marine vessels and trucks, completes documentation for each transfer, maintains facility inventories, supports facility, office, and vehicle upkeep, and assists with barge fleeting and security activities. The employee must work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities

- →Deliver fuel, lubricants, and supplies to marine vessels.
- →Receive deliveries of fuel, lubricating oil, and supplies by truck.
- →Load trucks with fuel and lubricating oil.
- →Complete and maintain accurate documentation for fuel deliveries and sales.
- →Maintain accurate inventories of fuel, lubricating oil, and supplies.
- →Perform routine facility inspections and support facility, office, and vehicle maintenance.
- →Keep fuel area clean and maintain good tank/truck rack condition.
- →Upkeep and repair pumps used to transfer cargo.
- →Facility maintenance and upkeep.
- →Janitorial duties:
- →Clean bathroom in office
- →General cleaning around office
- →Cleaning around grounds
- →Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- →Assist with barge fleeting activities.
- →Perform assigned facility security duties.
- →Immediately report incidents to the facility supervisor and respond appropriately during emergencies.
- →Perform other related duties as assigned.
- →Meet applicable Kirby physical requirements for Make Ready and Tankerman personnel when assigned related duties.
- →Lift and carry up to 75 pounds for distances of up to 500 feet.
- →Use clear verbal communication when coordinating with the industrial hygienist, person in charge (PIC), marine chemist, supervisors, customers, and coworkers.
- →Possess basic writing skills and complete required records accurately.
- →Follow directions from facility supervisors, industrial hygienists, marine chemists, and PICs.
- →Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- →Remain drug- and alcohol-free while on Kirby property and while conducting company business.
Requirements

- Be detail-oriented, organized, and able to produce clear, legible documentation.
- Successfully complete the Kirby physical requirements applicable to Yard Utility personnel.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Possess basic computer skills, including email, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
- Be self-motivated and able to work effectively with limited supervision.
- The regular schedule is Monday through Friday.
- The position requires outdoor work in all weather conditions and the ability to work independently.
- The employee may be required to work additional hours outside of the regular schedule.
