Job Description: Laser Marking Technician Position Title: Laser Marking Technician Industry: Precious Metals & Jewellery / Gold Hallmarking Centre (BIS Hallmarking) Locations: Thanjavur | Trichy | Karaikal | Mayiladuthurai Employment Type: Full-Time Experience Level: Freshers / 0–2+ Years (Experience on Laser Marking Machines preferred) Salary: ₹10,000 – ₹15,000+ per month (commensurate with qualification, experience, and skill set) Perks & Facilities: Free Food & Accommodation (for eligible candidates willing to stay/relocate, as per company policy) Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Laser Marking Technician to join our team at a certified Gold & Silver Hallmarking Centre. In this role, you will be responsible for operating precision laser marking systems to engrave official hallmarking logos, purity grades, HUID (Hallmark Unique Identification) codes, and jeweller identification marks onto precious metal articles. Key Responsibilities Machine Operation: Set up, calibrate, and operate laser marking/engraving machines to mark BIS hallmarking symbols, purity marks, and HUID codes onto gold and silver jewellery. Alignment & Accuracy: Properly mount, hold, and align intricate jewellery articles under the laser head using appropriate fixtures to prevent damage or misprints. Quality Inspection: Inspect marked items visually or with magnification lenses to ensure clear, precise, and defect-free markings in compliance with regulatory and company standards. System Data Entry: Load digital design files/templates, input job-specific parameters (power, frequency, speed, focal length), and ensure exact data matching with job slips/records. Handling Precious Metals: Handle valuable jewellery items with utmost care and integrity, ensuring zero physical damage, loss, or contamination. Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning, optical lens inspections, and basic upkeep of the laser marking equipment. Report hardware/software glitches to the supervisor immediately. Record Keeping: Maintain daily log sheets of processed batches, reject rates, and shift outputs. Qualifications & Criteria Education: ITI / Diploma / Any Bachelor’s Degree / Relevant Technical Certification (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Computer Science backgrounds are advantageous). Experience: Prior experience operating laser marking, fiber laser, or CNC engraving machinery is preferred. Freshers with good technical aptitude, steady hands, and willingness to learn are also strongly encouraged to apply. Language Proficiency: Basic English reading/understanding (for software operation and job cards); working knowledge of Tamil. Required Skills & Competencies Technical Aptitude: Comfort operating basic computer software and adjusting laser/CNC machine settings. Attention to Detail: High precision and care while handling delicate and high-value precious metal ornaments. Integrity & Reliability: Strong adherence to security protocols, transparency, and high ethical standards. Physical Stamina: Capability to work in rotational day/night shifts and maintain focus during repetitive precision tasks. Working Hours & Shifts The centre operates on rotational shifts. Candidates should be comfortable with assigned shift timings: Morning Shift: 8:30 AM – 8:30 PM (includes 1-hour lunch break) Night Shift: 8:30 PM – 8:30 AM General Shift: 9:30 AM – 9:00 PM (includes 1-hour lunch break) Compensation & Benefits Monthly CTC: ₹10,000 to ₹15,000+ per month (negotiable for candidates with proven hallmarking/laser experience). Accommodation & Food: Company-provided food and accommodation for outstation candidates or those willing to stay on-site (subject to eligibility and company policy).
