Staff Attorney

ServiceMaster of Seattle is a Disaster Restoration Company serving Washington State and beyond. We mitigate and restore properties damaged by floods, fires, windstorms, freezes, etc. We have been in business since 1984 and are a National Award-winning company based in Woodinville with locations in Everett and Maltby, WA. 

• ServiceMaster of Seattle is seeking a full-time Staff Attorney to support our business operations. The primary focus of this position is managing accounts receivable collection actions and recovering outstanding balances. Additional responsibilities include general contract review and assistance with HR policy review.
• We are looking for a practical, results-oriented attorney who can manage collection matters, negotiate resolutions, and provide clear legal guidance to our accounting, operations, and HR teams.

• →Lead legal efforts for outstanding accounts receivable, including demand letters, payment agreements, settlement negotiations, and appropriate legal action.
• →Evaluate account documentation, contractual obligations, and recovery options to determine the best course of action.
• →Manage collection litigation as needed, including preparing filings and appearing in court.
• →Collaborate with the accounting team to prioritize delinquent accounts, track recovery efforts, and report results.
• →Review, draft, and negotiate customer agreements, vendor contracts, subcontractor agreements, and other business documents.
• →Recommend contract improvements that clarify payment obligations and reduce disputes.
• →Assist with reviewing employee handbook provisions and HR policies, coordinating with HR leadership and outside counsel as appropriate.
• →Maintain accurate legal records and ensure collection practices comply with applicable laws and professional obligations.

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active Washington State law license and good standing.
• Experience in collections, commercial litigation, or creditors’ rights.
• Strong contract review, drafting, and negotiation skills.
• Familiarity with employment law and HR policy review preferred.
• Experience supporting restoration, construction, or other service businesses is a plus.
• Ability to manage matters independently, prioritize effectively, and communicate clearly with nonlegal teams.
• Professional judgment and a firm, respectful approach to resolving payment disputes.

• 1st year= 1 week (1 week equals five 8-hour days)
• 2nd- 4th year= 2 weeks
• 5th- 14th year= 3 weeks
• 15th year and on= 4 weeks
