Lab Technician (Force and Moment), Backshift

SUMMARY:  Prepares and installs candidate tire/wheel assemblies for testing on MTS Flatrac® Tire Test Systems and TMSI On-Level Test Systems. Conducts tests and records results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Follow safety rules and company policies.
• Maintains tire inventory records and coordinates all shipping and receiving.
• Confers with other Flatrac® technicians or staff to resolve operational or procedural problems relating to specifications, conditions under which tests are to be conducted, and duration of tests.
• Coordinates and participates in installing tire/wheel assemblies to be tested, connecting valves, pumps, hydraulic, mechanical, cabling, tubing, power source, and indicating instruments.
• Activates test system controls to apply electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical power and subject test tire to successive steps in test cycle.
• Monitors controls and instruments and records test data for customer’s use.
• Performs daily maintenance checks and participates in all phases of maintenance activities as required.
• Provides support in all departments of Smithers as directed by management.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one (1) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
