  • Hands-on dental insurance pre-authorization/pre-determination experience — not just theoretical knowledge.
  • Strong experience with dental insurance verification, including eligibility, benefits, coverage requirements, deductibles, copays, and annual maximums.
  • Working knowledge of dental coding and CDT codes.
  • Understanding of dental procedures, treatment plans, and common dental terminology.
  • Basic understanding of dental X-rays and the ability to identify or understand common types of dental radiographs and terminology.
  • Strong patient service and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Proficiency with computers, electronic health/dental records, and dental practice management software.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain productivity in a fully remote environment.
  • HIPAA knowledge or certification is preferred.

We are looking for a reliable, patient-focused, and experienced Dental Medical Receptionist to join our remote healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of hands-on experience working in a U.S. dental practice and a strong understanding of dental front-office operations, patient communication, scheduling, insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and dental terminology.

The successful candidate must be comfortable communicating with patients in English and have practical experience working with dental insurance, treatment plans, dental coding, and pre-authorization processes.

Responsibilities

  • →Manage inbound calls, emails, and patient inquiries in both English and Spanish.
  • →Schedule, reschedule, and confirm dental appointments.
  • →Handle patient check-in and check-out processes.
  • →Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and dental benefits.
  • →Review insurance benefits, including copays, deductibles, annual maximums, waiting periods, and coverage limitations.
  • →Obtain and follow up on dental insurance pre-authorizations and pre-determinations.
  • →Assist with treatment plan coordination and communicate insurance-related information to patients.
  • →Process patient payments and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • →Coordinate appointment reminders, recalls, and patient follow-ups.
  • →Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
  • →Communicate effectively with dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, insurance companies, and other dental staff.
  • →Support dental claims and other insurance-related administrative processes as needed.
  • →Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
  • →Provide general administrative and front-desk support to ensure smooth daily dental practice operations.

  • Curve Dental
  • Or other comparable dental practice management systems.
  • Dental insurance claims and follow-up.
  • Dental pre-authorizations and pre-determinations.
  • Treatment plan coordination.
  • Dental coding and CDT codes.
  • Understanding of dental X-rays and radiographic terminology.
  • Insurance benefit breakdowns and verification.
  • Patient billing, payment processing, and outstanding balance follow-up.
  • Experience communicating with U.S. dental insurance providers.
  • Previous remote dental practice experience.

The ideal candidate is a bilingual dental professional with strong front-office experience who can confidently communicate with patients, verify dental insurance benefits, navigate pre-authorization requirements, understand CDT codes and dental terminology, and provide administrative support with minimal supervision.

This is not a general medical receptionist position. Hands-on dental practice experience and practical knowledge of dental insurance processes are essential.
