The Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA) is a core focus for the growth of SG Americas and the expansion of client relationships across products and cycles. Within this platform, the Energy Co-Head of Coverage - Managing Director will be responsible for the origination and execution of all GLBA, MARK and GTPS products for Corporate and Investment Banking clients. The individual’s responsibilities include the fulsome coverage of Energy clients and oversight of corporate lending services. Global coordination with counterparts in Europe and Asia is essential to the successful expansion of the platform.

The Managing Director, who will report to the Head of Corporate Coverage AMER and Head of Energy Sector AMER is responsible for helping to lead the Energy coverage efforts of the firm in the Americas region.  The individual will bring origination capabilities, and will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic industry coverage plan for the Energy sector.  This includes:

•        Working closely with GLBA, Global Markets (MARK) and GTPS management to drive and set the agenda for targeted clients

•        Delivering strong and established relationships with clients and financial sponsors

•        Creating a comprehensive client business plan in coordination with colleagues across the bank and taking into account the Sectors financial sponsor relationships   

•        Maintaining strong global relationships with SG Industry Banker counterparts in Europe and Asia

•        Collaborating with all business partners by meeting regularly to review strategic goals, support ongoing and new business initiatives and receive regular feedback

•        Ability to motivate and inspire professionals working with him/her

•        Relevant Energy Coverage and GLBA/GTPS//MARK product experience including Leverage Finance and M&A. At least 10+ years banking experience and 3 years of specific experience in a similar role.  Led, managed and motivated teams with a track record originating and executing Energy client corporate finance and capital markets transactions

•        Deep relationships and track record with Energy deal partners at major financial sponsors within North America, Europe and Asia 

•        Experience or a desire to expand experience across major subsectors within Energy  

•        Resourceful and results driven, motivates team to deliver best-in-class advice and execution alongside a willingness to receive constructive feedback

•        Demonstrated ability to originate new relationships and expand on existing relationships directly resulting in revenue generation

•        Experience in managing new products and deep understanding of existing investment banking products

 

•        Track record of leading and mentoring high-performing teams, creating a mentality of ‘winning’

•        Desire to instruct and develop junior team members nurturing a culture of progress  

•        Able to influence and align colleagues, partners and other stakeholders across strategies and initiatives to drive the collective goals of the platform

•        Create an inspiring vision, set direction and motivate others to follow that direction and reach that vision

•        A resilient individual who can persist and sustain energy through challenges

•        Ensure team fully embraces all governance and regulatory requirements involved in the team’s work

 

•        Entrepreneurial spirit to drive the expansion of new endeavors with considerable support from an existing, established platform

•        Strong interpersonal effectiveness.  Self-aware of their own behavior and work style, as well as tolerant of different needs and viewpoints. Demonstrates interest, consideration and respect in others opinions

•        Powerful communication skills.  Excellent verbal, writing and presentation skills with the ability to interact with stakeholders and be able to relay complex technical concept to a non-technical audience

•        Hands-on approach with both internal and external stakeholders

•        Leads by example, guides others through their own behavior

•        Must be a self-starter and be able to operate independently in an aggressive environment

COMPENSATION:
Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience. The role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and includes a competitive benefits package including 401(k) plan with company match, medical/dental/vision, and other benefits for fertility, wellness, student loans and commuters.
