Production ManagerManufacturing & Production

As a Freelance Sports Production Manager (360° Immersive), you are responsible for planning, steering and operationally delivering immersive sports productions at L1VE – from the first project outline to successful on-site execution. The role is remote-first within Europe, with regular on-site presence at productions and optional use of our Berlin office.

Your focus is to manage clear, reliable production processes across departments. You combine strong operational execution with a sharp eye for quality, budget and timing. You understand how live sports productions work – and you make sure they are not only running, but delivered at an excellent level: every time, under new conditions, in new venues, with new requirements.
As a freelancer, you typically support one or several productions in parallel, depending on project scope and timelines.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • Own the planning, coordination and on-site execution of immersive sports productions – from site visits and briefings to detailed production planning and delivery on location.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility across the full production lifecycle: timelines, budgets, quality standards and smooth operations are in your hands.
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams across Tech, Content & Creation, Brand Partnerships and Post-Production under your project responsibility.
  • Oversee production logistics, resource planning and crew scheduling in close collaboration with the Tech department and the Production Assistant.
  • Create, manage and monitor project budgets – you track costs closely and act early when things start to drift.
  • Identify risks early and develop pragmatic solutions – you remain calm, clear and action-oriented in dynamic, time-critical production environments.
  • Lead and support production teams on site through clear, appreciative and solution-focused communication – even when the pressure is high.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders as an external partner, ensuring transparency on timelines, costs and dependencies across multiple parallel projects where needed.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in sports production, broadcast production or live event production – you have independently delivered real live productions.
  • Proven experience in budget planning and budget ownership for production projects – you understand the gap between planned and actual budget and know how to close it.
  • Experience managing complex projects with multiple internal and external stakeholders – you keep all threads together without losing the overview.
  • Solid experience in production planning and control – from first cost estimates and robust timelines to final reconciliation with clear ownership.
  • Familiarity with PM and production tools (e.g. Notion, Asana, Google Workspace or industry-specific production software) – you use tools to create transparency, structure and control.
  • Strong understanding of the specifics of live sports environments: last-minute changes, high-pressure situations, many parallel dependencies – and how to deliver reliably despite them.
  • Ideally, prior experience working in a freelance or project-based setup, coordinating multiple clients or productions.
  • Strong hands-on mentality and high drive to execute – you don’t just talk, you deliver.
  • High stress resilience – you stay clear, solution-oriented and reliable when the heat is on.
  • Strong sense of ownership – you take responsibility and don’t pass it on when things get difficult.
  • Passion for sports and immersive entertainment – you don’t just want to manage productions, you want to actively shape the future of live experiences.
  • Empathy and excellent communication skills – you lead teams in an appreciative way through clear, structured and reliable communication.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on weekends and evenings on site – live sports doesn’t follow a 9-to-5 schedule.

Requirements

  • Degree or vocational training in Sports Management, Media/Event Production, Broadcast or a related field – or an equivalent qualification through proven hands-on experience in live sports production.
  • You are set up as a freelancer (self-employed) and can collaborate with L1VE on a project basis across multiple productions.
  • Very good English skills (at least fluent, ideally C1 level), written and spoken, – you communicate confidently with international production teams, partners and clients. German basic skills and additional languages are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel at least 50% of your time – you like to be where the production happens, not just in the office.
  • The opportunity to shape immersive sports productions and production structures in an international, fast-growing tech and media company.
  • Close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams across Tech, Content & Creation, Brand Partnerships and Post-Production – from first concept to live delivery in the stadium.
  • Direct impact on innovative live formats, international productions and global sports partnerships.
  • Work with state-of-the-art 12K/3D/360° streaming technology and immersive platforms that redefine the live experience.
  • Flexible, freelance, project-based collaboration with the possibility to support one or several productions in parallel, depending on scope and availability.
  • Modern tools and a culture that values ownership, performance, innovation and bold ideas – on and off the field.
  • We offer a competitive freelance compensation depending on experience and project scope.
