Compensation: We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The hourly range for this position is $ 18.40 per hr.

SOME (So Others Might Eat) is currently seeking an On-call Public Safety (Security Officers) to join our Public Safety department on O Street in NW Washington, DC. This is a PRN role to support the program for shift coverage as needed.

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM and Saturday and Sunday: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Work as needed/PRN)

Location: 60 & 71 O Street NW, Washington, DC - SOME Dining Room & SOME Headquarters

Qualifications:

Required: HS Diploma or GED; 3-5 yrs. Public Safety/Security experience; experience providing services to the homeless

Required License/Certification: CPR/First Aid certification

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

Expected Contributions: Public Safety

  • Ensure SOME "O" Street locations are safe and clients receive services in a secure environment
  • Provide conflict mitigation and de-escalate conflict between clients and/or staff without the use of force
  • Document information to be used to develop and file incident reports for medical or police issues
  • Issue barring notices as needed
  • Contact police when conflict escalates or violent behavior is exhibited by the client
  • Develop positive working relationships with the police
  • Monitor security cameras and the perimeter of the buildings
  • Maintain daily security log
  • Enforce rules consistently for all clients and guests

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. May be required to sit or stand for long periods. Must be able to move around all levels/floors of the building.
