Company/Client Overview:
A growing real estate investment and construction company based in Los Angeles, with multiple active business entities including real estate, veterinary, and electrical contracting. As the company expands, we’re looking for a skilled and analytical Bookkeeper to help oversee financials across all entities and support strategic decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Bookkeeper will manage the day-to-day accounting for several business entities under the company. This role goes beyond basic data entry — we’re looking for someone who can interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to support business growth. Over time, this position may evolve into a more strategic finance role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping across multiple business entities (real estate, construction/electrical, veterinary practice, etc.).
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations in QuickBooks.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports (P&L, cash flow, balance sheets).
- Perform cost and profitability analysis for materials, labor, and project-based expenses.
- Provide monthly financial insights and recommendations to improve margins and reduce costs.
- Prepare documentation and reports for external accountants during tax season.
- Develop systems and processes to streamline transaction categorization and financial tracking.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify automation or AI tools that improve financial efficiency.
Minimum Requirements:
Language requirement: Excellent English Communication Skills
Education: Bachelor's Degree (ideally)
Experience: 3+ years of related experience
Industry: construction, real estate, or service-based businesses preferred
- 3+ years of bookkeeping experience for U.S.-based companies.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (multi-entity experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of financial statements, cash flow, and cost analysis.
- Prior experience working with construction, real estate, or service-based businesses preferred.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Strong English communication skills; ability to explain financial concepts clearly.
- Experience working remotely and managing multiple company accounts simultaneously.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience providing strategic insights or assisting with financial forecasting.
- Familiarity with U.S. accounting standards and tax document preparation.
- Interest in process improvement or use of AI tools for data tracking and analysis.
