About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Remote Bookkeeper based in South Africa to support our portfolio of UK-based dental practices. The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping experience, excellent knowledge of Xero, and the ability to work efficiently within UK business hours.
This role is a Dental Accounting Specialist responsible for the comprehensive, day-to-day bookkeeping and financial reporting for multiple UK dental clients. The core function involves maintaining accurate financial records, handling all transactional processing (A/P, A/R, bank recs) primarily using Xero, and preparing timely management accounts and reports. The role requires strong adherence to UK accounting standards and proactive client communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple dental clients.
- Process invoices, receipts, payments, and daily bank reconciliations in Xero.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, and cash-flow updates.
- Reconcile payroll journals submitted by UK payroll providers.
- Communicate proactively with clients regarding queries, missing documentation, and financial updates.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and best practices.
- Support end-of-year processes and work closely with UK accountants.
Qualifications:
Required
- Based in South Africa with a reliable internet connection.
- Proven experience using Xero (certification preferred).
- 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably for UK clients.
- Strong understanding of UK bookkeeping processes, VAT, and reporting timelines.
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
- High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work fully remotely and during UK business hours.
- A friendly person who is comfortable speaking to clients when necessary and can build and maintain a good rapport with them.
Preferred
- Experience working with dental practices or other healthcare clients is an advantage.
