Pay Range : $4,000–$7,000 USD/month full-time (varies based on skill set and experience level)

Company Overview:

Our Client is a rapidly scaling organization entering an important next phase of growth. The company is already an established Somewhere client, having made approximately 18 remote hires to date, primarily across sales, with recent expansion into compliance and retention functions.

Over the next 12–18 months, the company is planning for substantial expansion, with leadership targeting approximately 2–3x revenue growth. The exact future headcount will depend on business growth, automation and operational efficiencies, but the organization anticipates continued hiring across multiple functions and levels, including individual contributors, managers and functional leaders.

The business is also preparing for a significant capital raise, making the finance function increasingly important. As the company grows in both revenue and organizational complexity, leadership needs stronger financial planning, forecasting, reporting and controllership capabilities to ensure the business has accurate financial visibility and is well prepared for investors and future scale.

This hire represents an expansion of the company's finance capability rather than a traditional transactional accounting position. The successful candidate will work closely with Manning Yu, who currently leads/owns the accounting and finance function, and broader company leadership.

Role Overview:
Our client is looking for a hands-on finance leader to work directly with our COO and CEO as we scale the business and prepare for our Series B. This is a hybrid role spanning controllership/accounting, FP&A, and strategic finance/fundraising support. We already have accounting/bookkeeping support, so this person will not primarily be responsible for transactional accounting. Instead, they will help ensure the underlying financials are accurate and well organized, own the analytical and forecasting layer on top of them, and support the financial workstream for our upcoming financing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Own and improve the monthly close process in partnership with our existing accounting resources
• Review P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, reconciliations, accruals, and other close outputs for accuracy
• Ensure our financial reporting and supporting schedules are organized, consistent, and diligence-ready
• Bridge accounting outputs into management, Board, investor, and lender reporting
• Coordinate with accounting, tax, audit, and other external finance partners as needed

• Own and maintain our financial model, rolling forecast, budget, and cash planning
• Partner with functional leaders to develop and challenge operating assumptions
• Produce monthly actual vs. forecast and variance analysis
• Build scenario models and ad hoc analyses around growth, headcount, margins, working capital, and other key business decisions
• Develop management reporting and KPIs that give the COO and CEO better visibility into business performance

• Support the COO and CEO on the financial workstream for our upcoming Series B
• Help build and maintain the financial portion of the investor data room
• Prepare historical financials, KPI analyses, forecasts, cohort/supporting analyses, and other investor materials
• Manage and respond to financial diligence requests from prospective investors
• Support financial modeling and scenario planning related to the raise and use of funds
• Support Board/investor reporting and other financing processes, including debt financing where applicable
• Ensure consistency between our accounting records, operating metrics, financial model, and externally presented investor materials

Strong accounting/controller foundation combined with meaningful FP&A and strategic finance capabilities. Ideally this person has worked with a venture-backed, high-growth company and has directly supported an institutional fundraising process and investor data room. They should be comfortable moving between detailed accounting questions, financial modeling, and investor diligence without needing separate teams for each.

Minimum Qualifications:
Language requirement: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience: 

• Significant professional experience in finance, FP&A, controllership, corporate finance or a closely related discipline.
• Strong financial modeling, budgeting and forecasting capabilities.
• Experience developing forecasts and translating operational assumptions into financial models.
• Experience preparing management-level financial reporting and analysis.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and the relationship between the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
• Experience with financial controls and scalable finance processes.
• Experience supporting a high-growth or rapidly scaling organization.
• Exposure to fundraising, investor reporting, due diligence or data-room preparation is highly desirable.
• Ability to prepare financial information that can be confidently shared with executives, investors and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to identify discrepancies or weaknesses in financial information and investigate them independently.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong ownership mentality and ability to operate with limited oversight.
• Comfort working directly with founders/owners and senior leadership.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with willingness to personally execute detailed work.
