We are a rapidly growing U.S.-based financial AI services company that works with leading AI labs. We help their models handle real-world finance work, such as building financial models, valuing companies, and producing client-ready presentations.
The business was founded by a CFA charterholder with a decade of experience in investment banking and institutional investing. The standard we hold the models to is the one a top investment banking or corporate finance team would expect from its own analysts. We are a lean, founder-led team, and every hire has a direct impact on the quality of the work we deliver to our partners.
About the Role
~1 min readAI models are getting good at finance, but they still make the mistakes a junior analyst makes. They pick the wrong valuation approach, break the links in a cash flow model, or build a deck that looks polished but doesn't tie to the numbers. Fixing that takes experienced finance professionals who can show the model what "right" looks like and explain exactly where it went wrong.
That is this role. You will design realistic corporate finance and valuation tasks and build the "golden answer" for each one, meaning the Excel model or PowerPoint presentation a strong analyst would deliver. You will then review AI-generated work against your answer and write clear, specific feedback. Your judgment and your written reasoning are what the model learns from.
This is a hands-on modeling and valuation role, not a bookkeeping, accounts payable or receivable, or template-maintenance role. You will be the company's first finance hire and work directly with the Founder, with room to grow as the business adds headcount.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Design realistic tasks that mirror what an investment banking, corporate finance, or consulting analyst is asked to produce. Examples include a DCF, a three-statement model, a comparable companies analysis, a cash flow forecast, or a board-ready summary deck.
- Write clear, unambiguous instructions for each task, including the inputs provided and what a complete answer must contain.
- Decide which tasks are realistic and useful for an AI model to attempt, and flag ones that are too vague or too narrow.
- Build reference-quality Excel models from scratch, including three-statement models, DCF and other valuation analyses, cash flow models, and supporting schedules.
- Apply the appropriate valuation methodology for each task (DCF, trading comps, precedent transactions, and others) and document the key assumptions.
- Build clean, accurate PowerPoint presentations that tie directly to the underlying model.
- Write a concise rationale that explains the approach, assumptions, and judgment calls behind each answer.
- Review AI-generated models and presentations against your golden answer.
- Identify formula errors, broken links, flawed logic, wrong methodology, unsupported assumptions, and formatting or presentation issues.
- Write specific, structured feedback that explains what is wrong, why it matters, and what the correct approach is.
- Score outputs against the project's quality rubric, applying it the same way every time.
- Check your own work before submission: models balance, figures tie out, and decks match the model.
- Follow project guidelines closely and adapt quickly when instructions or rubrics change.
- Meet agreed weekly output targets without sacrificing accuracy.
- Work closely with the Founder, flagging unclear instructions early and suggesting improvements to task design and review standards.
- Track recurring model errors and share patterns that can sharpen future tasks.
Requirements
~2 min read- 5 to 7+ years of experience in corporate finance, valuation, equity research, credit analysis, transaction advisory, investment banking, or a similar analytical finance role.
- Expert Excel modeling skills, with the ability to build three-statement models, DCF valuations, and cash flow models from a blank sheet.
- Solid working knowledge of valuation methodologies, including DCF, trading comparables, and precedent transactions, and of when each one applies.
- Strong PowerPoint skills, with experience building presentations that summarize financial analysis for senior decision-makers.
- Excellent written English, with the ability to explain financial reasoning clearly and concisely in writing.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the habit of checking your own work before anyone else sees it.
- Proven ability to work independently and asynchronously from written instructions.
- Availability for full-time work (40 hours per week), comfort working through a remote desktop in a monitored secure environment, and a reliable high-speed internet connection.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
- CFA Level II or III candidate or charterholder, or a professional accounting designation such as CA(SA), ACCA, or CPA.
- Prior experience with AI model training, evaluation, or data annotation, especially finance-related work.
- Experience working with U.S.-based companies or clients, and familiarity with U.S. GAAP.
- Background in investment banking, Big 4 valuation or transaction advisory, or equity or credit research.
- Experience writing investment memos, research reports, or credit write-ups.
- Exposure to restructuring or distressed situations, such as 13-week cash flow models or recovery analysis.
You are:
- A builder. Give you a 10-K and a question, and you can produce a clean, well-structured model without a template.
- Able to explain your thinking. You can say why you chose a discount rate or a terminal value approach, and write it down so someone else can follow it.
- A natural reviewer. Spotting the error in someone else's spreadsheet comes easily to you, and you enjoy finding it.
- Consistent. You hold the same quality bar on the twentieth task of the week as on the first.
- Self-directed. You do your best work from written guidance, ask sharp questions when something is unclear, and don't need daily check-ins.
- Curious about AI. You're interested in how AI models reason through financial problems and motivated to make them better.
