Reports to: CFO / VP of Finance

We are a publicly traded, NASDAQ-listed company operating across multiple legal entities and currencies, including operations in the U.S., Canada, and other international markets.

The company has an active acquisition strategy and is currently transitioning its accounting operations to NetSuite as its system of record.

About the Role

~1 min read

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take hands-on ownership of the company's accounting close, multi-entity consolidations, and technical accounting execution.

This is a senior technical execution role working closely with the CFO and finance leadership. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the monthly and quarterly close, reviewing accounting entries, consolidating entities, managing intercompany activity, and producing accurate financial information in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

The company is also migrating its accounting operations to NetSuite. During the transition, you will work across NetSuite and the legacy accounting environment, reconcile balances between systems, resolve migration issues, and help establish NetSuite as the company's accounting system of record.

Because we are a NASDAQ-listed company, quarter-end periods require a high degree of ownership, accuracy, and urgency. The successful candidate will have experience working in or supporting a public-company reporting environment and understand the standards required for audit-ready financial reporting.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • Own and review the monthly and quarterly accounting close
  • Review and approve journal entries and ensure the integrity of the general ledger
  • Reconcile bank accounts, payroll liabilities, and other balance-sheet accounts
  • Maintain the chart of accounts and accounting master data
  • Perform foreign-currency remeasurement and translation as required
  • Ensure accounting periods are closed accurately and on schedule
  • Maintain clean, well-documented, audit-ready supporting schedules
  • Own consolidation across U.S. and international entities
  • Prepare and review intercompany reconciliations and elimination entries
  • Investigate and resolve intercompany differences
  • Perform consolidated cash-flow reconciliations and proofs
  • Integrate newly acquired entities into the consolidated reporting structure
  • Support deconsolidations, wind-ups, dispositions, and other structural changes
  • Apply U.S. GAAP to complex accounting matters
  • Support accounting for equity transactions, including grants, exercises, vesting, issuances, conversions, and capital raises
  • Support fair-value accounting for warrants, investments, and other financial instruments
  • Research and document technical accounting conclusions when required
  • Support acquisition and purchase accounting
  • Ensure accounting treatments are appropriately documented and defensible for audit and external reporting purposes
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Support financial statement notes and disclosures
  • Support quarterly and annual external reporting requirements
  • Provide schedules and workpapers required by external auditors
  • Maintain the level of documentation, accuracy, and control expected within a NASDAQ-listed company
  • Serve as a hands-on accounting owner of NetSuite
  • Reconcile balances between the legacy accounting system and NetSuite during the migration
  • Identify and resolve data integrity and migration issues
  • Support improvements to accounting workflows, controls, and close processes
  • Help transition the organization away from dual-system accounting once NetSuite is fully operational

Requirements

~1 min read
  • Professional accounting qualification, such as CPA, CA, ACCA, ACA, or another recognized international equivalent
  • Strong practical knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Strong hands-on NetSuite experience
  • Significant financial controllership and month-end/quarter-end close experience
  • Multi-entity consolidation experience, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations
  • Multi-currency and foreign-exchange accounting experience
  • Experience with technical accounting matters such as equity, fair value, financial instruments, or consolidations
  • Public-company accounting experience or public accounting/audit experience supporting publicly traded clients
  • Ability to produce audit-ready workpapers and supporting documentation
  • Strong written and spoken English
  • Experience communicating directly with U.S.-based finance teams, executives, clients, or auditors
  • Ability to work with at least six hours of overlap with U.S. Eastern Time
  • Big 4 or national public accounting background
  • Direct SEC reporting or 10-Q / 10-K support experience
  • Experience with equity and warrant accounting
  • M&A integration and purchase accounting experience
  • SOX/internal-controls experience
  • NetSuite implementation or ERP migration experience
  • Experience working across international subsidiaries and currencies

You are a technically strong accountant who is comfortable taking ownership in an environment that is still evolving.

You have personally managed difficult closes, multi-entity consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and technical accounting issues rather than simply reviewing someone else's work. You understand the additional rigor required when supporting a publicly traded company and can produce work that a CFO or external auditor can follow and defend.

You are equally comfortable investigating a consolidation difference, reviewing journal entries, resolving a NetSuite reconciliation issue, or researching the appropriate U.S. GAAP treatment for an unusual transaction.

You do not need a perfectly structured environment to perform well. You bring structure with you.

Most importantly, you take ownership. You communicate issues early, document your work clearly, meet demanding reporting deadlines, and understand the stakes involved in getting a public company's financial statements right.
