About the Role:
The role blends people leadership, performance management, and compliance execution. This is not an administrative HR role; it is a senior management position for a "Coach + Enforcer" hybrid who can drive performance, navigate complex compliance needs, and own the end-to-end employee lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic People Leadership: Manage a team of 8 frontline direct reports, owning the entire lifecycle from hiring, onboarding to offboarding and organizational design.
- Performance & Accountability: Design and execute performance review cycles and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), holding team members strictly accountable to KPIs and company outcomes.
- Compliance Execution: Interface with our external California HR consultants and legal counsel to implement high-standard people practices and ensure total adherence to employee handbooks and records.
- Process & Systems Oversight: Ensure operational consistency within healthcare-adjacent environments, overseeing staff discipline and accuracy within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Proven Leadership: Minimum 10+ years of experience in people management or HR leadership, with a "battle-tested" background in hiring, firing, and independent team management (Required).
- Performance Management Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience building feedback loops, coaching employees for growth, and confidently managing difficult conversations or confrontation (Required).
- High-Stakes Communication: Exceptional command of English and the ability to act as a direct, calm communicator who can make confident decisions under ambiguity (Required).
- Technical/Industry Context: Previous experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or working with EHR systems and California employment environments (Preferred).
