Position : QA Manager

Work Hours (Client) : Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm US Central Time (4pm to 1am SAST / 5pm to 2am SAST during daylight savings)

Pay Range : $3,800 - $4,800/ month (Independent Contractor)(varies based on skill set and experience level)

Location of Search : South Africa

We are a leading employee time tracking and workforce management platform used by thousands of businesses across the United States. We help construction companies, service providers, healthcare practices, franchises, and SMBs track time, manage schedules, and simplify payroll. We're a profitable, product-led SaaS company. The product is a web app, iOS and Android apps, an internal API, and a public API.

Role Overview:

You oversee our existing QA team of 3 people, who handle both manual testing and test automation. You set the team's priorities, review their work, own release sign-off, and stay hands-on with testing and automation. You work closely with the developers and the co-founder who runs development. The developers ship a lot of code quickly and use AI coding tools heavily. This role suits a self-starter who works well without a lot of direction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Set the QA team's priorities, review their work, and coach them.
• Own release sign-off: decide what gets tested before each release, make sure regression checks run, and hold back a release that isn't ready.
• Stay hands-on: test features, and review test automation in TypeScript with Playwright, covering end-to-end UI and API tests.
• Decide which customer workflows to automate first, and keep the automated tests reliable and easy to maintain.
• Triage bugs in Azure DevOps, and make sure every bug report gives a developer what they need to fix it.
• Send a weekly written report: what the team tested, what was automated, release status, and what's next.

Minimum Qualifications:

Language requirement: English (Fluent/Native written & spoken)

Experience: 8+ years in software QA, including at least 4 years directly managing a QA team.

• Hands-on with testing and with reviewing automation code (Playwright with TypeScript preferred, or another modern framework).
• Experience leading regression testing and release sign-off for a SaaS web app and APIs.
• Based in South Africa, and comfortable working US Central hours long-term.
• A self-starter who works well without a lot of direction and finishes what they start.
• Careful, detail-minded, with clear written communication skills.
• Track record of long-term tenure seeing year-over-year results.
