About the Role
~1 min read- Produce clear, accurate, fully coordinated rebar placement drawings, foundation plans, and sections using specialized detailing software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, RebarCAD, Tekla Structures).
- Generate detailed Bills of Materials (BOM) and bending schedules (cut lists) specifying bar size, length, shape, and quantity for the fabrication shop.
- Ensure all drawings and details comply with project specifications, relevant building codes (e.g., ACI 318, AASHTO), and industry standards (e.g., CRSI Manual of Standard Practice).
- Self-check details for accuracy — including lap splices, bar marks, and placement — before release.
- Review and analyze architectural and structural contract drawings to identify conflicts, discrepancies, and missing information before detailing begins.
- Prepare and submit RFIs (Requests for Information) to the engineer or architect when clarification is needed.
- Work closely with project managers, structural engineers, and shop personnel to resolve detailing issues and keep projects on timeline.
- Process and incorporate drawing revisions (addendums, bulletins) quickly and accurately, maintaining thorough documentation of all changes.
Requirements
~1 min read- Experience: [Minimum 2–5 years — to be confirmed] of professional rebar detailing experience on complex construction projects (commercial, bridge, or industrial).
- U.S. Code Detailing: Demonstrated experience detailing to U.S. standards — CRSI methods, ACI 318, and AASHTO — ideally on projects for U.S.-based clients.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in specialized rebar detailing software (e.g., RebarCAD, Tekla Structures, aSa, or AutoCAD with detailing modules).
- Blueprint Reading: Expert ability to read, interpret, and understand complex structural and architectural drawings.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal English, sufficient to generate clear RFIs and communicate directly with fabrication shops and engineers.
- Certification: Rebar Detailer certification (CRSI or similar).
- Education: Associate's degree or technical certification in Civil Drafting, Construction Technology, or a related field.
- BIM Experience: Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and coordination.
- Project Variety: Experience detailing a range of structures — bridges, precast elements, or high-rise buildings.
You are:
- Meticulous — you treat accuracy as non-negotiable, because you understand what a wrong bar mark costs downstream.
- Technically fluent — codes, standards, and detailing software are second nature, not a learning curve.
- A clear communicator — you can write a precise RFI and coordinate with engineers and shop staff without ambiguity.
- Independent and reliable — comfortable owning your deliverables remotely and hitting deadlines without close supervision.
- Adaptable — you incorporate revisions quickly and cleanly while keeping documentation airtight.
