Location of Search : South Africa, Latin America, and Philippines

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

We’re seeking two experienced Senior Accountants to join our growing remote team.

 You’ll provide accounting support to our Directors, assisting across multiple client engagements. This role is ideal for candidates with strong technical accounting foundations, month-end close experience, and solid Excel skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Core Accounting & Close

  • Prepare and post journal entries; maintain general ledger accuracy.
  • Perform bank, credit card, and clearing account reconciliations.
  • Manage AP/AR cycles, vendor setup, and payment runs as assigned.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including pre-close checklists, accruals, and deferrals.
  • Assist in drafting financial statements and management reports.
  • Collaborate closely with finance leaders to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports as needed.
 

Nonprofit & Compliance

  • Maintain audit-ready workpapers and schedules; support external audits and financial reviews.
  • Adhere to client-specific grant reporting and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and nonprofit accounting standards.
 

Quality, Tools & Collaboration

  • Keep meticulous workpapers and standard operating procedures (SOPs); ensure version control and traceability.
  • Work in common cloud-based ledgers such as QuickBooks Online.
  • Identify process improvements to increase accuracy, close speed, and team efficiency.
  • Maintain a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset in a distributed team environment.
 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Language requirement: Excellent English Communication Skills

Education: Bachelor's Degree (ideally)

Experience: 5+ years of related experience 

 

Required:

  • 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, reconciliations, pivots, etc.).
  • Experience working in corporate or internal accounting environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
 

Preferred:

Certification (CPA, CA, or equivalent) is a plus, but not required.

  • Familiarity with U.S. GAAP or IFRS—either framework is acceptable.
  • Prior exposure to nonprofit or fund accounting (nice to have, not mandatory).
  • Experience using QuickBooks, Taxco, Xero, or similar systems.
 

Work Environment & Hours

  • Candidates may be based in Latin America or South Africa (preferred)
  • Flexible working schedule with overlap to U.S. business hours (Eastern or Pacific time).
  • Standard working hours across the team are approximately 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM U.S. time, but flexibility and autonomy are encouraged.
