Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Full-Charge Bookkeeper to oversee the complete financial lifecycle of our organization. This is a high-level role for a financial professional who goes beyond ledger maintenance to provide actionable insights, process optimization, and comprehensive fiscal management. The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between daily operations and executive leadership, ensuring not only that the books are impeccable, but that the company’s financial infrastructure is scalable and compliant.
Responsibilities

- →Manage all aspects of the general ledger, including complex month-end and year-end closing processes.
- →Oversee multi-entity or multi-departmental accounting, ensuring accurate cost-center allocation.
- →Perform high-level bank, credit card, and intercompany reconciliations to ensure 100% data integrity.
2. Strategic Reporting & Analysis
- →Prepare and present comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) to the executive team.
- →Conduct variance analysis to compare actual performance against budgets, identifying trends and potential risks.
- →Develop and maintain sophisticated financial forecasting models to assist in long-term business planning.
3. Advanced Payroll & Compliance
- →Manage end-to-end payroll for various employee types (W2/1099), including benefits administration, 401(k) contributions, and multi-state tax compliance.
- →Lead the preparation for external audits and serve as the primary point of contact for CPAs and tax advisors.
- →Ensure strict adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and oversee local, state, and federal tax filings.
4. Process Optimization & Technology
- →Evaluate, implement, and manage accounting tech stacks (e.g., integrating QuickBooks with bill.com, Expensify, or specialized ERPs).
- →Establish and document robust internal controls to prevent fraud and reduce errors.
- →Streamline the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) workflows to maximize working capital and cash flow efficiency.
Requirements
~1 min read- Experience: 8–10+ years of comprehensive bookkeeping or accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a "Full-Charge" or Managerial capacity.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Software Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online/Desktop and advanced Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, Macro-integration).
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of US GAAP, revenue recognition, and complex tax nexus issues.
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage external vendor relationships and provide financial guidance to non-financial department heads.
- Regulatory Expertise: Experience with nexus-based sales tax collection and reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
- Project Costing: Ability to perform job costing and profitability analysis for specific projects or service lines.
- Fiduciary Discretion: A track record of handling highly sensitive payroll and financial data with absolute confidentiality.
- Communication: Ability to "translate" complex financial data into plain language for executive decision-making.
- Scope: Moved from "assisting with" to "managing/overseeing" the entire process.
- Tech Stack: Added requirements for integrating apps and managing the "tech stack" rather than just using one software.
- Strategic Value: Added Forecasting, Cash Flow Analysis, and Internal Controls—tasks typically handled by a Controller or Accounting Manager.
- Complexity: Included Multi-state compliance and Audit leadership, which require a much higher level of professional maturity.
