We provide an enterprise content management platform that powers websites serving hundreds of millions of requests monthly. Our API surface — spanning several Go services and Cloud Functions — is how our platform's data and logic reach the rest of our stack and our customers' integrations. 

About the role 

We're looking for a Senior Go API Engineer to take ownership of reliability and observability across our API surface: 4 existing repos and multiple Cloud Functions today, with more to come. 

At its core this is a service-operation role. The fundamentals carry the weight: HTTP semantics, database performance, caching strategy, monitoring discipline, and debugging instinct under production pressure — across service boundaries, not just within one. Go is the language these services are written in. Fluency is required, but the deeper signal we're looking for is engineering judgment around how distributed API services behave under load, and how to find the fault when four different systems could be at fault. 

Concrete work in scope includes:

- Auditing and building out monitoring/alerting across the API repos and Cloud Functions 

- Establishing on-call and incident response practices where they don't yet exist - Building log/trace correlation so a request can be followed end-to-end across services. You'll also work inside an AI-assisted development workflow we use across our engineering team. Code review is augmented by Claude. We use MCP tooling and agent-driven processes in day-to-day engineering. We're looking for someone who treats these tools as a peer reviewer worth engaging with, not a rubber stamp to ignore, and not a magic black box to over-trust. 

The ideal candidate 

An engineer who's operated Go API services in production, not just built them. Has internalized how HTTP behaves on the wire, what makes a database query fast or slow, why a CDN serves a stale response, and what a goroutine leak looks like at 2am. Comfortable on a production incident page. Writes clearly. Pushes back when something looks wrong. Has formed opinions about where AI tools accelerate development and where they get in the way. 

Day to day 

- Operate our Go API services and Cloud Functions in production: deployments, monitoring, incident response, on-call rotation 

- Audit and close gaps in monitoring and alerting across owned services - Correlate logs, metrics, and traces across service boundaries to debug intermittent, cross-service failures 

- Establish and refine on-call runbooks and incident postmortems - Move fluidly between repos and functions as reliability priorities shift — this role isn't scoped to one codebase 

- Engage substantively with Claude Auto Reviewer findings on your PRs and others' 

- Triage and resolve customer-impacting issues 

Skills we expect 

- 5+ years operating production API/backend services at scale 

- Deep HTTP fluency: semantics, status codes, caching headers, content negotiation 

- MySQL depth: indexing, EXPLAIN, transactions, schema design

- CDN and cache semantics: cache keys, Cache-Control, Age, ETag, Vary, invalidation strategy 

- Production monitoring and debugging instinct: fluent in logs, metrics, and traces, especially across service boundaries 

- Strong Go fundamentals: goroutines, channels, context, panic/recover — read and debug this confidently 

- Docker and containerized services 

- Cloud platform depth, GCP (Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud SQL, Cloud Logging) preferred 

- CI/CD pipeline experience, GitHub Actions preferred 

- Comfortable using and critiquing AI-assisted development tools - Excellent written communication. We are async-first.

- MCP servers or agent-driven engineering tooling
