Senior Traffic Management Designer

About the Role

The company will support and manage the relocation process for the successful candidate.
This is not a remote position. Once hired, the candidate will be expected to work on-site in Ireland from the company’s headquarters and across project locations as required.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Prepare traffic management layouts.
- →Develop temporary traffic management plans.
- →Produce permanent traffic design drawings.
- →Create detailed CAD drawings, sketches, and construction-ready documentation.
- →Develop designs in accordance with applicable traffic and road design standards.
- →Support the preparation and review of traffic engineering documentation.
- →Assist with traffic impact assessments.
- →Participate in design reviews and technical coordination.
- →Provide technical input during project planning and construction phases.
- →Liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, Site Teams, Clients, and Local Authorities.
- →Coordinate traffic management design requirements with wider project teams.
- →Support implementation of designs on active construction sites.
- →Review design requirements and identify potential technical issues.
- →Ensure designs are accurate, practical, and suitable for construction.
- →Ensure all design work complies with health and safety requirements.
- →Ensure designs meet environmental and quality standards.
- →Maintain accurate technical documentation and design records.
- →Manage multiple design priorities and project deadlines.
- →Support junior team members where required.
- →Provide technical guidance on traffic management and traffic engineering matters.
- →Perform additional design and project-related duties as required.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Traffic Design, Traffic Engineering, Traffic Management Design, or a closely related role.
- Strong experience preparing traffic management layouts and temporary traffic management plans.
- Experience producing detailed technical and construction drawings.
- Proven hands-on experience using AutoCAD.
- Experience with Civil 3D is advantageous.
- Experience working with temporary traffic management on live construction sites.
- Strong understanding of road and traffic design principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical and construction drawings.
- Experience coordinating with engineering and construction teams.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Full driving licence.
The role involves working with Irish traffic and road design requirements, including the Traffic Signs Manual (TSM).
Candidates with direct experience working under Irish road or traffic standards will be particularly relevant.
Candidates with strong traffic design experience from other markets should be comfortable adapting their technical knowledge to Irish standards and requirements.
The ideal candidate is an experienced traffic design professional with a strong technical background and practical understanding of how traffic management designs are implemented on active infrastructure and construction sites.
You should be confident producing detailed drawings, coordinating with engineering and site teams, reviewing technical requirements, and ensuring designs can be safely and effectively executed in the field.
Experience working for a civil engineering contractor, infrastructure contractor, traffic management company, engineering consultancy, or major subcontractor would be particularly valuable.
