  • Location: Remote

  • Reports to: Chief Tax Advisor (founder); works daily alongside the firm's U.S.-based tax advisors

  • Compensation: Monthly USD, band to be confirmed

We are a rapidly growing U.S.-based tax advisory firm headquartered in Los Angeles, serving high-net-worth individuals, founders, and business owners across the country. Our clients are high earners in fields like law, technology, and medicine, and our engagements start at $12,000.

We don't just prepare returns. We design and implement proactive tax strategy: entity structuring and S-corp elections, cost segregation, tax deferral, alternative investments, and long-term wealth planning. Our clients pay for precision and for answers they can act on, and our advisors are known for explaining complex tax decisions clearly.

About the Role

~1 min read

Our U.S. advisors spend too much of their week answering detailed technical questions over email and preparing analysis for client meetings. That limits how many clients each advisor can serve. This hire adds senior technical capacity behind them, so advisors can stay focused on strategy conversations while every client question still gets a precise, well-researched written answer.

This is a U.S. individual tax role, not a corporate tax role. The work centers on the personal tax picture of high earners: their Form 1040, the pass-through income that flows onto it, their real estate, and the planning decisions that change what they owe. You will be the technical backbone of the advisory team, working mostly in writing and almost entirely behind the scenes.

We are specifically looking for someone trained in a Big 4 (or comparable top-tier) private client, private wealth, or individual tax practice, who already prepares technical client correspondence on behalf of senior advisors.

Responsibilities

Technical Client Correspondence

  • →Draft clear, authoritative written answers to client tax questions, sent on behalf of or alongside our U.S. advisors
  • →Translate technical positions into plain English a busy physician, attorney, or founder can act on
  • →Own the written follow-up after advisor meetings: action items, document requests, and next steps

U.S. Individual Tax Analysis

  • →Review clients' individual returns and supporting documents to identify planning opportunities and risks
  • →Analyze how pass-through income (K-1s from S-corps and partnerships) affects a client's personal tax position
  • →Model the impact of strategies such as S-corp elections, reasonable compensation, retirement contributions, cost segregation, and income deferral
  • →Prepare quarterly estimated tax calculations and year-end projections

Research & Documentation

  • →Research the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury regulations, and IRS guidance to support strategy recommendations
  • →Write internal memos documenting the technical basis for positions taken
  • →Track legislative and IRS changes that affect high-income individuals and flag them to the advisory team

Advisor Support & Meeting Preparation

  • →Prepare analysis, summaries, and talking points ahead of client strategy meetings
  • →Gather and organize client financial data so strategies are ready to implement
  • →Double-check calculations and figures before anything reaches a client

IRS & State Matters

  • →Review IRS and state notices, draft responses, and coordinate resolution with the advisor
  • →Support California and multi-state individual filing questions

Requirements

~1 min read
  • 4+ years of U.S. tax experience, with the majority focused on individual (Form 1040) taxation
  • Experience at a Big 4 firm (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG) or a comparable top-tier firm, in a private client, private wealth, or individual tax practice
  • Working knowledge of how S-corp and partnership income flows to the individual return, including K-1 review
  • A resume that states plainly how much of your experience is U.S. individual tax. We read this closely
  • Exceptional written English: polished, publication-ready technical emails with little or no editing
  • Ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to non-experts, in writing
  • Comfortable working full Pacific Time business hours
  • Enrolled Agent (EA) license, or CPA licensed or in progress
  • Experience with high-net-worth or high-income clients, especially physicians, attorneys, tech professionals, and business owners
  • Exposure to real estate taxation: rental properties, depreciation, cost segregation, 1031 exchanges
  • Experience with proactive tax planning and projections, not only compliance
  • California individual tax experience
  • Prior experience drafting client correspondence for senior or client-facing advisors
  • Familiarity with professional tax software (CCH Axcess, UltraTax, Lacerte, or similar) and research tools (Checkpoint, CCH IntelliConnect, Bloomberg Tax)

You are:

  • A technically deep individual tax specialist who prefers getting the answer right over being in front of the client
  • Trained in a Big 4 environment and used to review standards, documentation, and turnaround expectations
  • A strong writer who can turn a complex position into three clear paragraphs a client actually reads
  • Proactive: you spot the planning opportunity in a return, not just the compliance requirement
  • Comfortable working independently and asynchronously with a small, senior U.S. team
  • Ready for a long-term role. You are looking for a firm to grow with, not a short stop

What We Offer

~1 min read
✓Work directly with the founder and a senior U.S. advisory team on sophisticated, high-value client engagements
✓Move beyond high-volume compliance into strategy work, where your analysis shapes real planning decisions
✓A mostly written, low-pressure client environment that rewards technical depth over sales skill
✓Room to grow as the firm adds advisors and clients
