About the Company
Our client is a tech-enabled digital agency and media firm specializing in web engineering, performance marketing, and scalable brand experiences. By combining custom web development, modern digital architecture, and data-driven organic search strategies, the firm builds high-converting digital platforms that drive measurable business growth for clients across diverse industries.
To support rapid agency expansion, bridge an immediate operational leadership gap, and deliver high-impact organic search growth across client portfolios, the company is seeking an experienced SEO Project Manager with 5+ years of experience and proven client-facing leadership capabilities.
Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic, highly articulate SEO Project Manager to take complete ownership of client SEO strategies, technical search audits, campaign execution, and high-level client account leadership.
In this role, you will serve as both the strategic architect of client search performance and an operational champion within a fast-paced agency environment. You will lead technical SEO implementations, content strategy, keyword architectures, and link acquisition campaigns while managing multi-account timelines. Crucially, you will act as a primary, client-facing communication lead—translating complex organic search metrics, technical audit findings, and campaign ROI into clear, confident business updates for client stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is a battle-tested agency search manager with 5–8 years of experience, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, high emotional resilience for fast-moving environments, and a leadership mindset.
Key Responsibilities
SEO Campaign Strategy & Execution
  • Develop, execute, and manage comprehensive organic search strategies tailored to client growth objectives.
  • Conduct in-depth technical SEO audits, site architecture reviews, crawlability analyses, and Core Web Vitals optimizations.
  • Perform keyword research, search intent analysis, and competitive gap assessments to guide client content roadmaps.
  • Oversee on-page optimization, metadata frameworks, internal linking structures, and structured data (Schema) deployments.
  • Lead off-page SEO initiatives, digital PR alignment, and authority-building link acquisition strategies.
  • Partner with internal web development teams to ensure technical SEO best practices are built into custom web builds and redesigns.
Client Leadership & Strategic Communication
  • Serve as the primary client-facing strategic partner for organic search accounts, leading monthly strategy calls, campaign reviews, and quarterly business reviews (QBRs).
  • Translate technical SEO concepts, algorithm updates, and performance data into actionable, business-focused insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Step up as an operational champion within the agency, helping guide team workflows and filling departmental leadership voids.
  • Manage client account health, expectations, deliverables, and retainers to ensure high client satisfaction and retention.
  • Author clear campaign performance reports, custom analytics dashboards, and executive summaries.
Agency Operations & AI Integration
  • Manage project timelines, task assignments, and campaign deliverables across internal content creators, technical developers, and SEO specialists.
  • Utilize AI-forward research platforms, automated audit tools, and data analytics tools to streamline campaign execution and insights generation.
  • Maintain high resilience and composure while managing multiple competing client priorities and fast-turnaround requests.
  • Standardize internal SEO processes, auditing templates, and reporting frameworks to improve team efficiency.
Required Qualifications
  • 5–8 years of professional experience as an SEO Specialist, SEO Account Manager, or SEO Project Manager within a fast-paced digital agency or media firm.
  • Proven track record of planning, executing, and scaling organic search campaigns that deliver measurable revenue or traffic growth.
  • Exceptional client-facing communication skills with confidence presenting to C-suite executives, business owners, and marketing directors.
  • Deep knowledge of technical SEO, site architectures, indexing, canonicalization, mobile optimization, and search engine algorithm factors.
  • Hands-on proficiency with industry-standard SEO and analytics suites (Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog).
  • Demonstrated leadership capability—capable of taking ownership of client accounts, guiding cross-functional teams, and solving operational challenges proactively.
  • High emotional resilience ("thick skin") and composure when managing client feedback in a high-pressure agency environment.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection, high-performance computer, and a dedicated remote workspace.
  • Availability to work full-time hours, Monday–Friday, during U.S. Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Practical experience integrating technical SEO requirements into CMS platforms (WordPress, Shopify, Headless frameworks).
  • Practical experience using modern AI research and writing platforms (ChatGPT, Claude) to accelerate content strategies and data analysis.
  • Solid understanding of digital PR, local SEO, multi-location search strategies, and e-commerce SEO architectures.
Technology & Tools
Candidates should be proficient with or capable of quickly mastering:
  • SEO & Crawling Tools (Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog, Moz)
  • Web Analytics & Performance Tools (Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, Looker Studio)
  • Project Management Platforms (Asana, ClickUp, Jira, Slack)
  • Content & CMS Platforms (WordPress, Shopify, Webflow)
  • AI Research & Productivity Tools (ChatGPT, Claude)
