This is not a remote position. Once hired, the candidate will be expected to work on-site in Ireland from the company’s headquarters and across project locations as required.
Flexibility to travel between project sites within Ireland will be required.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Manage the day-to-day delivery of multiple civil and utilities projects across urban and rural environments.
- →Coordinate site activities, labour, subcontractors, equipment, and project resources.
- →Monitor site progress and ensure works are completed on time and within agreed budgets.
- →Review construction and engineering drawings in detail.
- →Identify potential site or design issues and support appropriate amendments where required.
- →Support the implementation of design changes based on project requirements and feedback.
- →Create a strong leadership environment within the project site team.
- →Coordinate with Contracts Managers, Project Managers, Site Engineers, and other Site Agents regarding work requirements and resource allocation.
- →Liaise directly with clients and client representatives throughout project delivery.
- →Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
- →Ensure client expectations are understood and appropriately managed.
- →Continuously review project processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and delivery.
- →Support the implementation of new technologies and improved methods of working where appropriate.
- →Mentor junior members of the site team and help identify training or development needs.
- →Coordinate the planning and delivery of materials to site.
- →Resolve material shortages, discrepancies, or delivery issues when required.
- →Ensure all works comply with client requirements, applicable regulations, health and safety requirements, and project standards.
- →Oversee traffic management arrangements where applicable.
- →Ensure required site safety inspections and checks are completed.
- →Liaise with local authorities regarding inspections and site conditions before and after installation works.
- →Coordinate with internal planning and workflow teams regarding the programming and scheduling of works.
- →Provide clients with regular project status reports and updates.
- →Act as a professional point of contact for clients, members of the public, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- →Handle complaints or concerns relating to completed or ongoing works professionally and efficiently.
- →Maintain strong quality control standards across all works.
- →Complete required project documentation and administrative tasks accurately and efficiently.
- →Perform additional project-related duties as required.
- Previous experience working as a Site Agent, Site Engineer, Site Supervisor, Construction Supervisor, or in a similar site-based civil engineering role.
- Strong experience within civil engineering, drainage, utilities, water, electricity, or related infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing site activities and coordinating multiple teams or subcontractors.
- Good understanding of project costs and commercial considerations.
- Strong knowledge of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements (HSQE).
- Good understanding of groundworks and ground support systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and construction documentation.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to strict deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in a site environment.
- Confident and motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a wider project team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong client-facing and customer-service capabilities.
- Good computer literacy and the ability to maintain accurate project records.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information appropriately.
A qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline is desirable.
Candidates with equivalent professional experience in civil engineering or utilities infrastructure will also be considered.
A full, clean driver’s licence is required due to travel between project sites.
The ideal candidate is an experienced and practical construction professional who is comfortable taking ownership of site delivery and working in a fast-paced project environment.
You should be confident coordinating teams, solving problems on-site, reviewing technical information, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring projects continue progressing according to schedule.
Experience working for a main contractor, prime contractor, civil engineering contractor, utilities contractor, or major subcontractor would be particularly valuable.
