Quick Summary
code quality, documentation, reliability, and the judgment to know when something is reversible and when it absolutely cannot break.
Remote | Competitive Salary + Equity
We are a mission-driven, venture-backed startup based in Los Angeles providing dignified end-of-life care for pets and the people who love them. Under one roof, we offer pre-planning and quality-of-life support, euthanasia, water cremation (aquamation), memorial options, and grief support. We are growing quickly, and the technology that powers our business is central to how we scale our care to more families without losing the warmth and precision that families trust us with in their hardest moments.
We are hiring our first in-house software engineer to own and build the digital backbone of our company Today our technical work runs through an external agency. You will bring that work in-house, take ownership of our full stack, and partner directly with our Chief Business Officer to turn product direction into shipped software. This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role for someone who wants to build the core systems of a company from the ground up rather than maintain something that already exists.
You will work across our entire digital surface: the customer-facing ecommerce and scheduling experience, our internal operations platform, our data and analytics infrastructure, and the AI and customer-service tooling that supports our care team. You will not be handed narrow tickets. You will be a true builder and thought partner who helps decide what to build and then ships it.
Responsibilities
~2 min readEcommerce and digital product. Our revenue runs primarily through a WooCommerce and WordPress stack. You will own and extend our shop, product pages, checkout, and the scheduling and booking flows that route families to the right service and the right team.
Internal operations platform. We run an internal tool called Honor Hub that handles order management, pick lists, KPI dashboards, and operational workflows for our clinical and cremation teams. You will maintain and expand it, including React components, live data syncs, dispatch tooling, and customizable workflows for our partner clinics.
Data and analytics. You will keep our attribution and reporting trustworthy by integrating and maintaining connections across WooCommerce, our scheduling system, Google Analytics, Meta Ads, and call tracking so the business can make decisions on clean numbers.
AI and customer-service infrastructure. We are building modern customer-service and AI tooling to support our care team and cover families around the clock. You will help integrate and extend these systems and look for places where automation can lighten the load on the team.
Engineering foundations. As our first engineer, you will set the standard for how we build: code quality, documentation, reliability, and the judgment to know when something is reversible and when it absolutely cannot break.
- A strong full-stack generalist who is comfortable owning a problem end to end, from the database to the front end to the deploy.
- A pragmatic shipper who can move fast on a V1 and then improve in phases, while holding a zero-defect standard for the things that genuinely cannot be undone.
- A self-directed remote worker who communicates clearly, documents their work, and can be trusted with autonomy.
- Someone who approaches this work with care, humility, and respect, and who understands the emotional importance of what we do.
