Part-time Firefighter/EMT

The Town of Southern Pines is seeking dedicated and qualified individuals to serve as Part-Time Firefighters/EMTs with the Southern Pines Fire Department. This vital role involves protecting life and property through fire suppression, prevention, and emergency response.

• →Respond to emergencies to combat, extinguish, and prevent fires.
• →Operate fire and rescue equipment effectively during emergency incidents.
• →Perform routine care and maintenance of fire stations, firefighting equipment, and associated facilities.
• →Use independent judgment when responding to emergencies, following established standards and procedures.
• →Work under strenuous conditions, including extreme heat, smoke, and confined spaces.

• Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • North Carolina Firefighter Certification.
  • North Carolina EMT-B Certification.
• Preferred:
  • NC Driver/Operator Pumps Certification.
  • Technical Rescuer Certification – NFPA 1006 (2013).
  • Confined Space and Trench Rescue Certifications.

Qualified applicants must:

• Successfully complete the department’s physical agility test.
• Pass a written general knowledge test.
• Undergo a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
