As the Regional Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), you will provide high-quality speech therapy services customized to meet the individual diagnoses and needs of designated students across multiple Spectrum School locations in order to achieve speech therapy goals and improve overall speech functioning. This includes but is not limited to direct instruction prescriptive evaluation, consulting with parents or guardians, and representatives from the home school district, writing IEP goals and interventions, monitoring studentโ€™s progress toward goals, attending IEP meetings and collaborating with educational teams to enhance students' communication skills and overall development.

The Regional Speech Language Pathologist works under the support and direction of the Regional Vice President, Operations and onsite Program Directors to ensure the highest standards of clinical practice are upheld across multiple school locations and education teams.

    Evaluating students across designated programs to identify speech-language needs and recommend services that support meaningful communication and classroom participation.

    Developing and implementing individualized speech therapy plans that build on student strengths and connect assessment findings to achievable treatment objectives.

  • โ†’

    Establishing collaborative, student-centered goals with families, educators, and interdisciplinary teams to help students communicate with greater confidence and independence.

    Monitoring student progress through data-driven assessments, adapting therapy plans to individual needs and developmental milestones, and sharing clear, actionable progress reports with families and team members.

    Providing direct speech and language therapy using evidence-based strategies to strengthen communication, language comprehension, articulation, and cognitive-linguistic skills in age-appropriate, everyday settings.

    Documenting therapy sessions and clinical observations accurately and promptly to support continuity of care and compliance with Spectrum policies and state regulatory standards.

    Maintaining complete, current case records and submitting authorized documentation and billing within 24 hours of service delivery.

    Building strong family partnerships through proactive communication about therapy schedules, session changes, and student progress.

    Collaborating with teachers, caregivers, and related service providers to help students apply communication skills throughout their daily routines and educational experiences.

    Participating in onsite multidisciplinary meetings and regional conferences to share clinical insights, review student progress, and shape effective treatment recommendations.

    Equipping onsite program teams with clinical expertise and practical strategies that reinforce therapy goals across classrooms and other learning environments.

    Mentoring educators and program staff to strengthen their ability to support individualized therapy plans and carry effective strategies into daily student interactions.

    Conducting and/or overseeing timely student intakes and comprehensive clinical assessments, using findings to guide service recommendations and continuous program improvement.

    Overseeing the quality and consistency of speech therapy services across multiple school locations to maintain alignment with clinical best practices and performance standards.

  • โ†’

    Promoting clinical excellence through direct supervision, ongoing staff development, and knowledge-sharing that supports professional growth and quality care.

  • โ†’

    Partnering with students, caregivers, and families to build trust, encourage active participation in therapy, and celebrate meaningful progress toward student goals.

  • โ†’

    Engaging in ongoing professional development to bring emerging research, effective practices, and innovations in speech-language pathology and education into student services.

  • โ†’

    Traveling regularly between assigned Spectrum School locations to deliver direct therapy, provide hands-on clinical support, and oversee program services; occasional overnight travel may be required.

  • โ†’

    Performing additional responsibilities and supporting projects as requested by onsite Program Directors or assigned by the Area/Regional VP of Operations.

 
 

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in speech language pathology or a closely related field of study.
  • Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a CA state speech language pathology (SLP) credential.
  • Hold currently or have the ability to obtain a valid CA state driverโ€™s license. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training.
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in providing speech language instruction, guidance and/or support to children, preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting. 
  • Well-versed in special education services and compliance, effective teaching strategies, classroom management systems, data-based decision making, and working with children with individualized education plans (IEP's).
  • Highly skilled in working with children with autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, and/or other related disabilities.
  • Proven success in developing and implementing effective treatment plans for children with diverse needs at various levels.
  • Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals.
  • Highly skilled in building relationships with students, parents, teachers and community and/or district partners.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology including experience with instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment.
