POSITION OVERVIEW: Accounting Manager:

The Accounting Manager reports to the controller and will run day-to-day accounting and owns the monthly close. You keep the books accurate, timely, and audit-ready.
This is a hands-on role. You will review work, fix problems, and build better processes. Spectrum is growing. We recently launched PrideCare Rx, our for-profit pharmacy, and you will manage the accounting for both entities. In Q2 2027, we'll be moving into our new 22,000 sq ft facility in central Phoenix. That growth means real chances to shape how Finance works. You will partner with clinical, pharmacy, revenue cycle, HR, and operations leaders, so clear communication matters as much as technical skill.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting Manager are expected to:

Close and Reporting

Own the monthly close calendar and make sure it finishes on time.
Review journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals. Confirm balance sheet accounts are supported.
Prepare monthly financial statements and budget-vs-actual reporting for leadership
Support the annual budget, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Explain variances in plain language to non-finance partners

Core account operations

Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting.
Maintain the chart of accounts across entities. Keep intercompany activity clean.
Manage fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and capitalization policy.
Apply lease accounting under ASC 842.

Healthcare and nonprofit accounting

Account for 340B program activity as the covered entity, including contract pharmacy reconciliations.
Work with revenue cycle on patient revenue, contractual adjustments, and cash application.
Track grant and restricted funds. Support grant reporting and compliance.

PrideCare Rx (pharmacy)

Own the accounting for PrideCare Rx, Spectrum's pharmacy and a separate for-profit legal entity. This includes close, GL, AP, reconciliations, and financial statements.
Manage pharmacy inventory accounting, including costing, physical counts, and cost of goods sold.
Reconcile wholesaler purchases, third-party payer reimbursements, and 340B administrator activity.
Account for intercompany activity between Spectrum and PrideCare Rx. Keep the nonprofit and for-profit books clean and separate.
Support for-profit tax filings with outside advisors.
Report pharmacy results and key metrics to leadership.

Controls, audit, and compliance

Maintain internal controls and document key processes.
Prepare schedules and support for the annual audit and Form 990.
Help with sales, payroll, and other tax filings as needed.

Team Leadership

Improve processes and automate where it makes sense, including using AI tools for reconciliations, analysis, and reporting.
Act as backup to the Controller when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong working knowledge of GAAP, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct or a comparable ERP.
Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivots, reconciliations).

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with nonprofit, 340B, multi-entity accounting (nonprofit and for-profit), ASC 842, grant accounting, or retail pharmacy and inventory accounting.
Experience with audits and Form 990 preparation.
Experience with payroll platforms and AP automation tools.
Experience working with LGBTQ+ communities, people living with HIV, or other underserved populations.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid Driver’s License (required).
Must be able to obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card during background check process. (Required)

Clear written and verbal communication. You can explain numbers to non-accountants.
Strong organization and attention to detail. You manage multiple deadlines well.
Comfort improving and documenting processes.
Comfort using AI tools in day-to-day work, with the judgment to review and verify the output.
Ability to handle confidential financial and payroll data with discretion.
Demonstrated cultural competency and commitment to an inclusive, stigma-free workplace.

Compensation/Benefits/Total Rewards:

Salary Range $110,000 - $125,000
Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, eligible on the first day of the month following your start date.
Company-Paid Life Insurance Policy of $50,000.
Company Paid Parental Leave
Additional optional benefits such as: Voluntary Life/AD&D, Accident, Cancer Protection, Hospital, and Short-Term Disability Insurance.
403(b) Plan with a 3% company match, eligible after first pay period.

Paid Time Off:

120 hours of Vacation time, 4.62 hours accrued bi-weekly starting date of hire. Available to use after the first day of employment.
1 week, 40 hours of Paid Sick Leave accrued bi-weekly starting date of hire. Available to use after the first day of employment.
9 annual paid holidays.
You are also entitled to carry over 80 hours of PTO into the following calendar year.
