In this varied and active role, you will provide an efficient, professional and courteous portering service throughout the hospital. From safely helping patients move between departments to delivering essential supplies and supporting hospital security, your work will make an important contribution to the experience of our patients, visitors and colleagues.

Flexible shifts are available across days, evenings and weekends. You may be asked to provide additional cover during busy periods, annual leave or colleague absence.

As a Bank Porter, you will provide the highest standards of service to patients, visitors and colleagues across all hospital departments.
You will work as a flexible and multi-skilled member of the team, supporting a range of portering, courier, distribution and security duties. You will always be expected to work in a safe, caring and professional manner, particularly when helping patients move around the hospital.
Responsibilities

- →Safely transferring, transporting and guiding patients around the hospital
- →Supporting patients in a caring, sympathetic and professional manner
- →Helping to maintain the safety of patients, visitors, colleagues and consultants
- →Collecting and delivering clean and used linen throughout the hospital
- →Supporting the safe collection and disposal of domestic and clinical waste in accordance with hospital and corporate policies
- →Assisting with the general security of the hospital and its grounds
- →Reporting any security concerns promptly to the appropriate member of the Senior Management Team
- →Reporting maintenance issues to the Maintenance Department using the Pirana system
- →Undertaking courier and driving duties as required
- →Transporting equipment, supplies and other items safely between hospital departments
- →Responding promptly and professionally to requests from clinical and non-clinical colleagues
- →Supporting the wider hospital team with additional duties when required
No formal qualifications are required, but you must be able to communicate clearly with patients, visitors and colleagues. You will also be expected to maintain a professional appearance appropriate to a healthcare environment.
You will need:
- A full, clean driving licence
- Previous experience of delivering frontline customer service
- Experience of working in a similar customer-facing, portering or facilities environment
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Excellent customer care skills
- A caring, patient and sympathetic manner
- The ability to work independently and without direct supervision
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider hospital team
- A reliable and flexible approach to work
- The ability to undertake a physically active role
- The flexibility to work days, evenings and weekends
- An understanding of the importance of confidentiality, safety and professionalism in a healthcare environment
