Position Summary
Are you passionate about improving community health outcomes across Maine? The Maine Prevention Network (MPN) Manager provides leadership, oversight, and coordination for statewide prevention efforts focused on substance use prevention, tobacco prevention, and obesity prevention.
This position is embedded with the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) and serves as the primary manager for the Maine Prevention Network—a statewide collaboration among Maine CDC programs and community-based Public Health District partners implementing evidence-based prevention strategies.
The MPN Manager acts as a subject matter expert across all three prevention domains, ensures contract compliance, provides technical assistance to community partners, and leads system‑level planning to support successful prevention programming statewide.

Essential Job Functions
The MPN Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing management of systems, processes, and resources to ensure the effective delivery of MPN services statewide.
Program Leadership & Technical Assistance
Conduct monthly district-wide MPN meetings covering all prevention domains, including training, technical assistance, peer learning, and professional development.
Facilitate quarterly statewide MPN meetings, including administrative training, CDC-led technical assistance, and partner-driven learning topics.
Plan and facilitate two statewide MPN conferences annually.
Serve as a subject matter expert in tobacco prevention, substance use prevention, and obesity prevention.
Partner Oversight & Quality Improvement
Develop site visit tools to ensure:
Contract compliance
Relationship building with community partners
Documentation of strengths and opportunities for growth
Lead regular site visits with each MPN district partner.
Develop and implement quarterly quality improvement and compliance tools.
Provide written follow-up feedback and technical guidance to partners.
Contract & Fiscal Management
Review, quality-check, code, and approve invoices.
Oversee contract management for quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
Collaborate with Prevention Services Coordinator and Maine CDC Program Managers on:
Content review
Budget updates
Encumbrances and deliverables
Systems, Tools & Communication
Develop guidance documents, templates, and resources for community partners.
Design, develop, and manage a centralized communication and collaboration platform supporting:
Work products and campaigns
Training materials
Tools and templates
Calendars and document repositories
Staff Supervision & Coordination
Provide oversight, direction, and workload prioritization for the Prevention Services Coordinator.
Maintain and update training curricula and departmental resources.
Additional Responsibilities
Travel statewide as required for meetings, trainings, and conferences.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of MPN and Maine CDC priorities.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, or a closely related field
Minimum 3 years of program management experience, including budget oversight
Minimum 2 years of contract management experience
Strong project management, organizational, and time-management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems
Preferred
Master’s degree in Public Health or related field
At least 1 year of experience in:
Substance use prevention or
Tobacco prevention or
Obesity prevention
Experience working with community-based public health or government partners
Work Environment & Requirements
This position is embedded at Maine CDC in Augusta, Maine
Requires in-person work at least two days per week
