The Food Service Technician is a part-time (24 hours/week) hourly role with a Tuesday-Thursday daytime schedule
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Prepare and portion meals and snacks according to recipes, written specifications, and dietary requirements, including special dietary needs and food allergies
- →Follow safe food handling, preparation, sanitation, and food storage practices at all times
- →Receive, rotate, date, and properly store food and supplies using FIFO practices; monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to the Food Service Manager
- →Maintain clean and sanitary kitchens, dining areas, equipment, utensils, and workspaces
- →Complete required temperature logs, production counts, prep lists, cleaning checklists, and other food service documentation
- →Communicate with the Food Service team and program management regarding daily meal requirements and other food service needs
- →Assist with menu updates, production counts, meal deliveries, and other daily food service activities as needed
- →Report equipment malfunctions, damage, or other concerns to the Food Service Manager
- →Wash and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment
- →Attend Food Service and staff meetings as required

Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Some culinary training preferred
- Two years of experience in a food service operation serving a population of individuals with specialized medical and/or nutritional needs
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen safety standards
- Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and safe operating practices
- Understanding of food ingredients and dietary and nutritional needs
- Ability to prepare, portion, and store meals in varying quantities while following recipes and dietary requirements
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet daily meal requirements
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to shared goals
- Hepatitis A short series required—can be provided by St. Louis Arc at no cost

ServSafe Food Handler certification or ability to obtain certification after hire
