About Us:
BGC Jane and Finch is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where children and youth can learn, grow, and build positive relationships. Our summer camp programs focus on recreation, leadership, creativity, and community involvement.


Position Summary:
We are seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic Youth Summer Camp Mentors to support the delivery of our summer camp programs for children ages 11-18. Mentors will play a key role in creating a fun, inclusive, and safe camp experience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and actively engage children in daily camp activities
  • Plan and lead recreational, educational, and creative programming
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times
  • Foster positive behavior and act as a role model
  • Assist with daily routines, transitions, meals, and outdoor activities
  • Communicate effectively with staff, participants, and families
  • Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and safety protocols


Qualifications:

  • Educational background applicable to the position
  • Experience working with children ages 6–12
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in camp, recreation, or childcare settings (preferred)
  • Must meet all Canada Summer Jobs requirements, including:
    • Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
    • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
    • Be legally entitled to work according to provincial/territorial legislation
    • International students are not eligible; recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents
  • Strong program planning and organizational skills
  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
  • Good decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (mandatory)
  • Police Reference Check completed within the last 6 months (mandatory prior to start date)
  • HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development training (asset/required)
