This position sits at the center of Americans for Prosperity's political recruitment strategy — identifying, cultivating, and mentoring the next generation of policy-aligned leaders who will shape federal and state government. You'll work directly with senior state leadership, internal stakeholders, and high-profile political figures, making this a unique role contributing to AFP’s broader mission.
The Political Scout Manager role calls for a seasoned political professional with a track record of leadership at the highest levels of campaign and recruitment work.

Recruit top-tier candidates. Identify and recruit exceptional candidates for federal and state office who will advance the organization's vision and public policy goals.

Shape regional political strategy. Partner with AFP's state staff and community leaders to assess the political landscape and build strategies targeting the most critical public office seats.

Advise senior state leadership. Serve as a trusted consultant to AFP's state leaders as they design and execute candidate recruitment strategies.

Build high-level relationships. Cultivate strong, lasting relationships with aligned prospective candidates and inspire them to run for elected office.

Champion the mission. Connect prospective candidates and key stakeholders to AFP's vision for meaningful public policy change.

Lead candidate development. Conduct and facilitate AFP's Candidate School, directly shaping the readiness of future political leaders.

Proven leadership experience — Substantial, senior-level experience leading political recruitment and/or political campaign work at the federal level.

Executive presence — The professional gravitas required to build and maintain relationships with policy-aligned candidates, political leaders, elected officials, and other influential figures.

Regional expertise — A deep, nuanced understanding of the political landscape and electoral opportunities across a defined region.

A strong network — An established web of relationships with potential policy champions and political influencers.

Flexibility to travel — Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time.

For this role, the anticipated base salary range is $110,000–$160,000 per year. This role may also be eligible for additional bonus compensation designed to align total compensation with an employee’s overall contribution to the organization.
