Stewart & Stevenson is Now Hiring a Painter II at 10750 Telge Road Houston, TX 77095.
The Painter Level II is an intermediate-level role responsible for independently preparing, painting, and finishing parts to meet UE Manufacturing quality standards. This position requires solid experience in industrial painting, the ability to read and interpret blueprints or work orders, and the capability to identify and correct basic paint defects. The Painter II is expected to work with minimal supervision and may assist in training entry-level painters.
Responsibilities

- →Independently perform surface preparation, masking, sanding, and cleaning of parts.
- →Set up, adjust, and operate spray guns and related painting equipment correctly.
- →Mix paints, primers, and coatings to specifications without supervision.
- →Select appropriate paint types (epoxy, urethane, powder, primers) based on job requirements.
- →Inspect coated surfaces and identify common defects such as runs, sags, and orange peel.
- →Maintain paint booths, spray guns, and related equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- →Follow production schedules and meet required quality and efficiency targets.
- →Assist with training Level I painters as needed.
- →Safely use solvents, chemicals, and materials according to SDS guidelines.
- →Perform all work in accordance with safety policies and quality standards.
- →Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- Ability to read blueprints, travelers, and work orders.
- Possesses knowledge of industrial paint types (including epoxy, urethane, powder coat, and primers), proper surface‑preparation methods, and the identification and correction of basic paint defects.
- Ability to properly mix, measure, and apply coatings per specification.
- Strong understanding of safety practices and proper PPE use.
- Basic computer literacy for completing work orders or documentation.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Exposed to cold, heat, noise mechanical/electrical fume or odor.
- Will be required on occasion to work more than 8 hours on one shift.
- Requires crawling and working in narrow spaces.
