JOB SUMMARY:
The Military & Veteran Engagement Coordinator supports student engagement and day-to-day operations across Student Success, Veteran Services, and Military Relations. The Coordinator is primarily responsible for developing engaging digital content, promoting programs and events to students and the military-connected community, and managing departmental budgets and financial processes.
Working in collaboration with University Marketing and departmental leadership, the Coordinator helps maintain a strong and consistent connection with students through social media, digital outreach, event promotion, and storytelling. The position also provides essential financial and operational support by monitoring budgets, tracking expenditures, processing purchases, and maintaining accurate financial records.
This is a 30-hour-per-week position supporting the Veteran Success Center and Celt Success Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Student & Digital Engagement:
- Develop engaging digital and social media content highlighting students, programs, resources, events, accomplishments, and military and veteran community partnerships.
- Coordinate social media engagement in collaboration with University Marketing and in accordance with University branding and communication standards.
- Develop and maintain a content and engagement calendar to ensure consistent and timely outreach.
- Promote programs, events, deadlines, and resources to students through coordinated email, text, social media, and established campus communication channels.
- Create student-facing graphics, flyers, digital content, event promotions, and other engagement materials.
- Capture photos, video, and short-form content at programs and events to showcase student experiences and departmental impact.
- Identify creative opportunities to increase student awareness, participation, and engagement with Student Success, Veteran Services, and Military Relations.
Budget & Financial Operations
- Monitor and maintain departmental budgets for Student Success, Veteran Services, and Military Relations.
- Track expenditures and maintain accurate and current budget records.
- Process purchase requests, invoices, reimbursements, and other departmental financial transactions.
- Reconcile expenses and provide routine budget updates to departmental leadership.
- Coordinate purchasing for programs, events, promotional materials, supplies, and other departmental needs.
- Assist with annual budget preparation, projections, and financial reporting.
Program & Event Support
- Coordinate promotional timelines and student outreach for departmental programs and events.
- Assist with event logistics, including reservations, purchasing, catering, registration, materials, and day-of-event support.
- Maintain departmental event and engagement calendars.
- Support initiatives designed to engage current students, prospective military-connected students, veterans, families, and community partners.
- Provide operational support for major Student Success, Veteran Services, and Military Relations programs and initiatives.
Department Operations
- Provide operational support to the Executive Director of Student Success, Director of Veteran Services, and Director of Military Relations.
- Maintain organized financial, program, and engagement records.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Serve as a welcoming and professional point of contact for students, faculty, staff, veterans, military-connected families, and community partners.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in administrative operations, budget support, social media/digital engagement, event coordination, higher education, or a related area.
- Demonstrated experience creating engaging content for social media or other digital platforms.
- Experience tracking budgets, expenses, purchasing, or other financial transactions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create clear, engaging, and professional student-facing content.
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively and professionally with students, faculty, staff, veterans, military-connected individuals, and community partners.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience working in higher education, military/veteran services, student affairs, student success, or a related environment.
- Prior military service or demonstrated experience working with veterans or military-connected communities.
- Experience creating content using Canva or similar graphic design platforms.
- Experience developing short-form video, photography, social media, or other digital content.
- Experience with budget reconciliation, purchasing, procurement, or financial reporting.
- Experience supporting events, programs, or student engagement initiatives.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work a consistent 30-hour-per-week schedule, with occasional evening or weekend hours to support programs and events.
- Ability to attend campus events and capture digital content as needed.
- Ability to manage confidential student, departmental, and financial information with discretion.
- Must demonstrate reliability, initiative, creativity, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to student service.
