About the Role

~1 min read

We're hiring a Robotics Intern to help design, build, and ship the hands-on robotics kits we put in front of students. We're scaling a program that puts thousands of robotics kits, paired with AI-powered courses, into K-12 schools, colleges, and universities across the US, and we need someone who loves building things to help.

You'll work on the full kit, not just one piece of it. That means assembling and testing hardware like SO-101 robot arms and drone kits, 3D printing and designing parts, and then building the courses on Honen that teach students how to use what's in the box. Your work will be used by real students and teachers in real classrooms.

This is a hands-on role. You'll spend a lot of time at a workbench, and a lot of time figuring out how to explain what you just built to a student who's never touched a robot.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • →Assemble, wire, calibrate, and test robotics hardware, including SO-101 arms, drone kits, and NVIDIA Jetson-based kits.
  • →Design, model, and 3D print custom parts, mounts, enclosures, and replacement components.
  • →Help decide what goes into each kit, source parts, and write bills of materials.
  • →Write clear build guides, setup instructions, and troubleshooting docs that a teacher with no robotics background can follow.
  • →Build robotics lessons and courses in Honen, including step-by-step projects, videos, quizzes, and hands-on challenges.
  • →Write and debug starter code students use to control their robots, for example in Python.
  • →Test kits and courses end to end, find where people get stuck, and fix it.
  • →Photograph and film builds for course content, marketing, and partner updates.
  • →Help pack and prepare kits for school deployments, and support teachers once kits are in the field.
  • →Bring ideas for new kits and projects to the team.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field. Strong self-taught builders are welcome too.
  • Hands-on experience building robots, drones, or electronics projects, through a club, team, class, or on your own.
  • Experience with 3D printing and CAD (Fusion 360, Onshape, SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Comfortable with basic electronics: wiring, soldering, motors, servos, and sensors.
  • Some programming experience, ideally Python.
  • Good at explaining technical things in plain language.
  • Patient with debugging hardware that doesn't work the first time.
  • Organized and careful with parts, inventory, and documentation.
  • Excited about getting students and new learners into robotics and AI.

Nice to Have

~1 min read
  • Experience with the SO-101 / SO-100 arms, Hugging Face LeRobot, or other open-source robot arms.
  • Experience with NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi, or Arduino.
  • Drone building or flying experience.
  • ROS or ROS 2 experience.
  • FIRST Robotics, VEX, or similar competition experience, as a student or mentor.
  • Teaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or curriculum writing experience.
  • Video editing or photography skills.

We care more about what you've built than what classes you've taken. The strongest candidates can show us things like a robot they built and programmed, a drone they put together from parts, a 3D printed design they iterated on, a project they documented well enough for someone else to rebuild, or a time they taught someone else how to build something.

Send us photos, videos, GitHub links, or anything else that shows your work.

  • Position: Robotics Intern
  • Focus: Robotics learning kits and curriculum
  • Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week
  • Location: On-site, Beverly Hills, CA
  • Schedule: Flexible around coursework
  • Compensation: $3,500/month

This role is designed for someone who wants real experience building hardware and educational products that go straight into classrooms across the country.
