Inventory Control & Cycle Count Specialist
Quick Summary
Ability to be on your feet all day, climb rolling ladders to reach high racking, lift to 50 lbs, and work in an unconditioned warehouse/yard environment.
Stuart Hose & Pipe is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Inventory Control & Cycle Count Specialist. In this role, you will own the physical accuracy of our branch inventory—from bins of brass and steel fittings to reels of hose and pipe inventory.
We need a proactive self-starter who takes complete accountability for their work, operates efficiently without direct supervision, and approaches daily audits with a problem-solving mindset. You will work alongside our warehouse, counter, and shop teams, requiring an understanding of fast-paced shop workflow and a respectful awareness of how your counts interact with other team members' daily production.
- Cycle Counting & Audits: Conduct scheduled, daily cycle counts across all warehouse bin locations, yard storage, and bulk racking in accordance with branch counting schedules.
- Root-Cause Investigation: Research inventory variances, discrepancies, and negative balances by reviewing recent sales tickets, assembly builds, purchase orders, and bin transfers.
- Data Integrity & Reconciliation: Document discrepancies accurately and submit inventory adjustment requests into the ERP system with clear explanations.
- Bin & Location Management: Maintain clean, labeled, and properly organized bin locations; identify misplaced parts, damaged stock, and unassigned inventory across the warehouse and yard.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate seamlessly with counter sales, order pullers, and fabricators to verify stock counts without interrupting active customer order fulfillment or critical shop run times.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify systemic stocking errors, recurring mispicks, or labeling bottlenecks, stepping up to recommend and implement organizational improvements.
- Self-Starter & Independent Drive: Proven ability to manage your daily audit schedule efficiently with minimal supervision once trained on branch procedures.
- Attention to Detail & Accuracy: Laser focus on matching complex alphanumeric part numbers, thread configurations, diameters, and unit-of-measure conversions (pieces, feet, coils).
- Personal Accountability: Genuine ownership of count numbers, follow-through on discrepancies, and taking pride in maintaining pristine inventory records.
- Team & Time Awareness: High emotional intelligence regarding operational pace—knowing when to pull a count without slowing down a fabricator or counter associate in the middle of a rush.
- Proactive Work Ethic: Willingness to go beyond basic counts by correcting disorganized bins, updating faded tags, and helping keep the warehouse safe and organized.
- Experience: 1–3 years of dedicated cycle counting, inventory control, or quality auditing experience in a distribution, manufacturing, or industrial supply environment.
- Technical / Computer Skills: Comfortable utilizing ERP/WMS systems, handheld barcode scanners/tablets, and basic spreadsheet tracking.
- Math & Measurement: Solid arithmetic skills; comfortable converting feet, reels, packages, and individual piece counts accurately.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to be on your feet all day, climb rolling ladders to reach high racking, lift to 50 lbs, and work in an unconditioned warehouse/yard environment.
- Equipment: Sit-down forklift or order picker experience is a plus (or willingness to be trained/certified).
