We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laser Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. The Laser Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality metal components according to production specifications.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and technical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Previous experience operating laser cutting equipment or manufacturing machinery is preferred.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Safely set up, operate, and monitor laser cutting machines.
- →Configure machine settings and cutting parameters based on material type, thickness, and production specifications.
- →Properly align and position raw materials in the laser machine.
- →Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work orders, and production specifications.
- →Produce parts according to established quality and production standards.
- →Perform measurements and quality inspections throughout the production process.
- →Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools to verify part dimensions.
- →Visually inspect finished parts for defects, accuracy, and quality.
- →Make machine adjustments as needed to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
- →Report defective or non-conforming products to the Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor.
- →Monitor equipment performance and report machine issues or safety concerns.
- →Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication as directed.
- →Assist maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and equipment repairs when needed.
- →Complete production documentation, including routing tickets, work orders, quality checks, and production records.
- →Set up and operate additional assembly or production equipment as required.
- →Follow all work instructions, department procedures, and production standards.
- →Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- →Follow all company safety procedures and required PPE guidelines.
- →Assist with process improvements and communicate any needed changes to supervisors.
- →Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
~2 min read- Previous experience operating laser cutting machines or manufacturing equipment preferred.
- Manufacturing, automotive, CNC, machine operation, or metal fabrication experience is a plus.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and technical specifications.
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and measuring tools preferred.
- Basic math skills for measurements, adjustments, and quality checks.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic machine or production issues.
- Basic computer skills and ability to accurately complete production documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to stay productive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move raw materials, finished parts, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds, with assistance or mechanical aids when appropriate.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating laser equipment, controls, and measuring tools.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements while loading and unloading materials and inspecting parts.
- Sufficient vision to read blueprints, machine displays, gauges, and inspect parts for quality and accuracy.
- Ability to hear machine alarms, equipment sounds, and verbal instructions in a manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable working around noise, heat, metal dust, fumes, cutting residue, and moving equipment.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear.
