- Develop and maintain layouts for off-line pre-assembly and sequencing areas.
- Define process flows and arrange workstations, equipment, material presentation areas, staging areas, and transfer points.
- Determine space and capacity requirements based on production volumes, product variants, takt requirements, and assembly-line demand.
- Plan the movement of components and completed subassemblies through pre-assembly and sequencing areas to their required assembly-line delivery points.
- Develop efficient material-flow concepts that support production requirements and minimize unnecessary movement and handling.
- Coordinate planning activities with line planners, logistics, production, industrial engineering, quality, and equipment specialists.
- Evaluate alternative layouts based on flow efficiency, operator access, ergonomics, capacity, safety, and material movement.
- Define workstation, equipment, and infrastructure requirements.
- Support technical reviews and coordination with equipment and system suppliers.
- Identify layout and process risks and develop practical solutions.
- Support installation, trials, pilot builds, and production ramp-up activities.
- Resolve layout and process issues during implementation and update planning documentation accordingly.
- Maintain accurate layout, process-flow, and planning documentation throughout project development and implementation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant professional experience
- Demonstrated experience in automotive manufacturing layout or process planning.
- Practical experience with pre-assembly, sequencing, material supply, or comparable manufacturing areas supporting an assembly line.
- Experience interpreting and developing manufacturing layouts using CAD or designated manufacturing planning software.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Strong understanding of manufacturing layout and process planning.
- Practical knowledge of pre-assembly and sequencing processes.
- Understanding of material flow, capacity planning, takt requirements, and workstation design.
- Ability to develop and interpret manufacturing layouts.
- Knowledge of operator access, ergonomics, and safe material movement.
- Strong coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to manage interfaces between manufacturing, logistics, engineering, quality, and equipment functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify layout constraints and develop effective solutions.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience in automotive vehicle manufacturing or assembly.
- Experience supporting new production lines, plant expansions, or vehicle launches.
- Experience with off-line pre-assembly and sequencing concepts.
- Experience with CAD-based manufacturing layout planning.
- Knowledge of logistics concepts such as material presentation, staging, line-side delivery, and sequencing.
- Experience working with equipment suppliers and external partners.
- Experience supporting installation, trials, commissioning, or production ramp-up.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
- Experience working with cross-functional and international project teams.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:
- Location: Vance, AL
- Schedule: Full Time/, 40 hours per week / A-shift/ overtime as required
- Assignment Start: ASAP
