Faculty

The Social Sciences Department at Texas A&M University-Central Texas is seeking applicants for a sociology adjunct instructor position. The successful candidate will be expected to teach an upper-level course in sociology. Areas of specialization are open, but we are especially interested in candidates who can teach at least one of the following topics: social inequalities, health and illness, media, political sociology, or the military. Experience and enthusiasm for teaching and working with undergraduate students is essential. Because demand for online courses is growing, candidates do not need to live in Central Texas. A Ph.D. in sociology is preferred.  Please submit a curriculum vitae, transcripts, and a cover letter describing your fit for the position and whether you would be willing to teach online, face to face, or both.

Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process.  Adjunct instructors are hired to teach on a temporary and part-time basis. Adjunct instructors teaching courses for credit must meet the same requirements for professional and scholarly preparation as their full-time counterparts teaching in the same discipline.

Additionally, a moratorium issued by Governor Abbott on January 27, 2026, restricts the filing of new H‑1B petitions unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Due to these restrictions, applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer, and the department is currently unable to sponsor or assume sponsorship of any employment visa.
