We’re searching for a Trauma Registrar, someone who’s ready to be part of the best ranked children’s hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will work as part of the Trauma Service to achieve high quality, cost-effective health care throughout the Hospital IDS, work closely with other departments to maintain the licensing requirements for the organization and facilitate the performance improvement process by providing accurate and timely data.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains Trauma Registry.
- Abstracts required information into the Trauma Registry and coordinates the reporting of data to the Department of State Health Services Trauma Registry as set forth in the Texas health and Safety Code.
- Evidenced by bi-monthly reporting to the registry.
- Demonstrates knowledge of procedures necessary for developing and maintaining the trauma registry database.
- Performs or coordinates regular upgrades as recommended by the vendor to ensure proper database functioning.
- Evidenced by updates installation.
- Facilitates and manages the process for identifying trauma patients in the hospital data system utilizing the EPIC data import and validates the accuracy of imported data.
- Successful completion is evidenced by the lack of duplicate records and accurate data mapping.
- Identifies issues related to performance improvement and identifies trends.
- Prepares data reports for Trauma Committee, M&M, and trauma site visits.
- Evidenced by review of meeting minutes and trauma site visit application.
- Performs regular data entry quality checks between registry staff.
- Successful completion is evidenced by review of 10% of cases entered the registry each month.
- Provides opportunities and strategies for improvement of registry system and/or services as evidenced by at least one improvement resulting from recommendations made.
- Coordinates internal and external data reporting.
- Supports research activities.
Skills & Requirements
- Required Paramedic Training Program or Vocational Nursing Program or Diploma in Nursing Or associate degree or bachelor's Degree
- Required Licenses/Certifications
-RN - Lic-Registered Nurses by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact OR
-CSTR - Cert Trauma Registry Spec by the American Trauma Society OR
-CAISS - Cert Abbre Injury Scaling Spec by the Association for Advancement of Automotive Medicine
- Required Licenses/Certifications
- Required 5 years' experience in hospital trauma registry, coding, or clinical research including a minimum of 2 years in trauma registry
- An active RN license at the time of hire may substitute for the 5 years of required experience
