Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models (parts and assemblies) using SolidWorks or similar tools
  • Update and revise drawings based on engineering changes, manufacturing feedback, and field input
  • Apply drafting standards, including proper dimensioning and GD&T (ASME Y14.5 preferred)
  • Manage drawing revisions and ensure accurate, controlled documentation
  • Partner with Mechanical Engineers on layouts, detailing, and design updates
  • Translate sketches, markups, and concepts into complete drawing packages
  • Support designs with manufacturability, assembly, and serviceability in mind
  • Work across Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, and Field Service teams
  • Support BOM creation, part identification, and vendor documentation
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback
  • Provide documentation for fabrication, assembly, and repair
  • Help resolve drawing-related issues on the shop floor or during build
  • Clarify drawings for internal teams as needed
  • Improve drafting workflows, standards, and efficiency
  • Recommend updates to templates, processes, and revision control
  • Identify ways to reduce errors, rework, and cycle time
  • Ensure drawings meet company standards, specs, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate revision history and document control
  • Support QMS processes and audit readiness
  • Review drawings for accuracy and flag discrepancies
  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent in Mechanical Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field
  • 2–4 years of mechanical drafting or CAD support experience preferred
  • Experience with industrial equipment, machinery, or automated systems is a plus
  • Working knowledge of engineering terminology, math concepts, and manufacturing processes
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks (preferred) and/or AutoCAD
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
  • Familiarity with GD&T and drafting standards
  • Understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization skills
  • Effective communicator in cross-functional environments
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and shifting deadlines
  • Mix of office and engineering/manufacturing settings
  • Occasional exposure to shop environments and industrial equipment
  • May require PPE during shop or field visits
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, light lifting (up to ~25 lbs), and standard visual acuity
