JOB SUMMARY

TekniPlex is hiring a Materials Technology Development Manager for our Ridgefield, NJ facility. The Medical Technology Solutions (MTS) segment for the Healthcare Division offers customized medical compounds used for extrusion and molding; extruded tubing for device assemblies; product design and manufacturing of Class II and Class III medical devices, including catheter solutions, implantable components and delivery systems, and design for manufacturing services. The NA Materials Technology Development Manager will perform a critical role in the introduction and execution of all MTS Medical Compound NPI, NPD & R&D projects & programs in North America. Additionally, the NA Materials Technology Development Manager will provide, when needed, technical leadership and expertise to support MTS manufacturing continuous improvement projects in North America. The salary range for this role is $95,000 to $140,000 annually. Pay is based on experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide MTS Materials subject matter expertise
  • Manage /Lead NA MTS Materials Team
  • Serve as a player/coach for the global MTS Materials team
  • Lead the execution of new product development and research & development projects from idea generation to successful commercialization, in collaboration with Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, and other functions, and providing oral and written project updates to stakeholders
  • Leverage material science and conversion technologies knowledge to successfully conduct product and manufacturing trials utilizing research labs, pilot assets and production lines.
  • Leverage advances in new material and manufacturing technologies to deliver new solutions to defend our competitive advantage and satisfy unmet market needs
  • Lead/Participate in stage gate meetings, technical calls/visits to customers, vendors, and external partners to gather insights and expedite successful project completion.
  • Lead/Participate in technology scouting and idea generation processes

Requirements

  • Bachelors or masters in a material science-related field with Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Advanced degree (PhD) preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of materials industry experience (formulations, and conversion technologies) in applied R&D
  • Experience in Project Management, Stage Gate, Six Sigma, Design of Experiments
  • Experience building a culture of innovation and collaboration within customers and internal teams
  • Experience and demonstrated success in developing and commercializing new innovation concepts from ideation to commercialization
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Organizational-savvy and comfortable with navigating organizations at all levels
  • Well-organized and self-directed and have a strong process and project orientation
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

WORKING CONDITIONS

The nature of this role may require work hour flexibility including working outside the regular workday hours and weekends.  Regular day and overnight travel by air may be required. Typically works in an office with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
