Data Engineer

The project or topic you would work on: You will join an international team of data professionals working across multiple countries within Telekom organization. In this role, you will collaborate with both local experts and international colleagues to build unified, high-performance data pipeline solutions. We are looking for a Data Engineer who enjoys solving complex integration challenges and wants to have a real impact on how our organization uses data globally. What tasks await you? * Design, develop, and maintain data ingestion and processing pipelines across different data platforms * Develop and optimize batch and streaming data pipelines using Python, SQL, and distributed processing technologies * Integrate data from various source systems, including databases, APIs, Kafka, SFTP, and file-based sources * Build and maintain reusable components and frameworks for data pipeline development * Implement automated testing, data quality checks, and monitoring for data pipelines * Troubleshoot pipeline issues and optimize data processing performance * Collaborate with local Data Engineering teams, data scientists, and subject-matter experts across multiple countries You are the ideal candidate, if you have: * Minimum 3 years of experience in a Data Engineering role * Strong Python programming skills and advanced SQL knowledge * Hands-on experience with Apache Spark (PySpark) or similar distributed data processing frameworks * Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines * Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g. Apache Airflow) * Good understanding of data lakes, data warehouses, and common data storage formats * Experience integrating data from different sources, including relational databases, APIs, and file-based systems * Experience with Git and version control practices * Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaborate with international teams * Fluent English, both written and spoken It’s an advantage if you have: * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or related field * Experience with data lake and lakehouse technologies (e.g. Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, Hive, S3) * Knowledge of distributed SQL query engines (e.g. Trino) and analytical databases (e.g. ClickHouse) * Strong understanding of data governance principles, including metadata management and data quality frameworks * Experience with cloud data platforms (GCP preferred) * Knowledge of streaming and data ingestion technologies (e.g. Kafka, Apache NiFi, Flink) * Familiar with Data Mesh and Data Product concepts * Experience in international or multi-country data projects * TELCO technical knowledge Benefits: * HUF 700,000 gross pro-rata cafeteria budget * HUF 45,000 / month gross telecommunications services discount which you may apply to Telekom services you or a close family member of yours subscribe to. * Flexible working hours with partial home office options. * Comprehensive benefits package (laptop, mobile phone, cafeteria, insurance).Employee discount rates on Telekom services. * Modern, multinational working environment with amenities like a sky bar and rooftop gym. * Access to our Employee Assistance Program. * Comprehensive Healthcare Package * You will receive a minimum of 25 days of basic vacation per year (based on age) * We offer 15 days of additional vacation if you become a father, with 100% pay * You'll have access to thousands of professional and skills development materials from our extensive digital training palette * We offer regular internal training sessions and workshops * You can learn English and German, even with a native speaker * You’ll have access to Percipio and Coursera courses When: * Whenever you can join us!
