$56,263-$67,517 annually, commensurate with education and experience

Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Shelbyville is accepting applications for a Full-Time Instructor in Industrial Maintenance Automation (IMA). This position is responsible for providing high-quality classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction to high school and adult students, preparing them for employment in industrial maintenance, automation, and advanced manufacturing environments.

• →Provide individualized classroom, lab, and hands-on instruction in industrial maintenance automation, including basic electricity and electronics, motor controls, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics/mechatronics, industrial automation systems, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, blueprint reading, and industrial safety.
• →Demonstrate safe and effective use of industry tools, equipment, instrumentation, and automation systems.
• →Monitor, evaluate, and document student progress.
• →Manage accurate records and submit required reports.
• →Maintain a safe, organized training environment in compliance with OSHA and industry safety standards.
• →Assist with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
• →Establish and maintain relationships with business and industry; support advisory committee activities for program improvement.
• →Participate in professional development to remain current in the field.
• →Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent (HiSET acceptable).
• Postsecondary diploma or Associate degree in related field preferred.
• 3+ years of work experience in industrial maintenance, automation, manufacturing, mechatronics, or a related field.
• Industry-recognized certifications or technical training in industrial maintenance, automation, or related fields preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to teach both technical theory and hands-on application in industrial maintenance automation.
• Ability to teach and effectively engage with high school and adult learners.
• Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and industry partners.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office or similar programs.
• Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) labeling and policy.
• Physically able to perform instructional demonstrations and field activities, including climbing, lifting up to 30 lbs., and working in outdoor environments (with or without accommodation).
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.
